I believe the posters are one person. I've told Robert this for several years but it doesn't fit his agenda. Bruce, he's actually posting that you are one of the posters.

It's pretty obvious that the poster is very protective of Bruce. that surely doesn't fit Georger. Robert also makes false assumptions claiming they are all coming from this site.he repeats things over and over so they become fact vs assumption or lies. I could easily repeat over and over that the posters are the guy who hides under a rock (Greg) and burn it into peoples minds making it a fact.

I even looked into the threats made to Auburn. He never mentioned anything about a 2nd phone call nor does he bring it up for several years. that's when it changes. he was very defensive when asked about the call days after posting. he has said to have had the number for over 10 years, got it the next day. now, it came from Iowa? he said he told the police it was Bruce, why would he do that if he had the number or new from the start it was an out of state number? all this nonsense was soon after Robert joined the DZ. he claims they all thought the call came from a payphone and refuses to post the number for the last DECADE? he becomes very evasive and changes the subject when called out.

Actually, he does mention he would post if another call came into Auburn. weeks later all he comments about is how well the festival went, shows pictures etc. the whole thing is forgotten.

It starts with his claim of hearing the message left on Connie's voice mail. then he claims to show an email sent (text form only) to her asking for the number and the audio file. he said he would post the audio, even claiming to use it as an opening. days go by and someone asks him about the audio. he becomes defensive claiming to no longer want it saying she was too busy, even though he asked for it and was offered the file. he tells the poster he wants to forget the incident unless another call comes in?

When you look into his wild stories they wouldn't even stick to wall fresh with super glue.

I try not to comment or get involved in Blevins' WOES. His migration into ufos may be just what he needs. Fulfillment at last! He may get to pat down the ladies to make sure all metal is removed from their clothing? I just ask Blevins to keep us informed and give advanced warning when the GREAT DAY arrives. His transfiguration from sardine to immortal should be interesting. As his fishy spirit orbits Uranus he can send messages back to the Mountain News and tell us what he's seeing and what is going on in the ever-after. He might run into interesting people like ... Jessie James?  That should be interesting. Keep up the good work RMB!

Yup. Eric, me, 377, Tom Kaye, and Joe Koenig of Walter Reca fame are all in the Expedition Unknown episode. Or at least we were filmed.

It's airing on the Discovery Channel, and I believe that they offer a 7-day free trial subscription.

A noteworthy break in a case that has long been linked to the Zodiac Killer occurred recently:

DNA recovered from stamps was used for forensic genealogy to identify the letter writer and ultimately eliminate the Cheri Jo Bates murder as a Zodiac crime.

But does this actually eliminate Zodiac as the killer of Bates? Even though he didn't write the letters in question, I believe he did take credit for that murder in one of the letters that are confirmed to be from him. But that was only after these letters appeared and someone made that possible link. There may be more details here that I'm not aware of. I've followed this case quite a bit and I always had doubts that Zodiac was involved with the Bates murder. I also doubt he was the one that picked up a woman after sabotaging her car. He took credit for that only after the woman ID'd him from the artist sketch of Zodiac.

I think there was also some writing (or engraving) on a chair desk, in the same library that Bates visited on the night of the murder, that some thought was related to the killer of Bates.  But I don't think the Riverside Police ever believed that the Zodiac was her murderer.  The Riverside Police reportedly had, and still have, a strong suspect in the Bates murder.  But their investigation took a back seat when the Zodiac claim was made.  Maybe now they can get their Bates investigation going again.

The Riverside Police Department has always been dubious of the Zodiac link to the Cheri Jo Bates murder. They state clearly in their press release that they no longer believe it is a Zodiac crime. However, more to your question, it doesn't actually provide physical evidence that eliminates Zodiac. Nevertheless, the Zodiac link was weak before, now there is almost nothing substantial that links Zodiac to the Riverside murder.

Yes, you're referring to what's commonly known as the "Desktop Poem". However, multiple handwriting experts have since come forward with the opinion that the handwriting on the desk does not match Zodiac. Also, this poem was found scratched onto the underside of a desk and found in a supply room by a custodian months after the Bates murder. There's no telling when it was done. Also, other than the macabre themes, it bears no similarity to the Bates murder.

You're also correct about Riverside PD having a favorite suspect from the beginning, but allegedly he was ruled out by DNA in the early 2000s. Regardless, it seems Riverside is still focused on this man. For what it's worth, this suspect is retired and living the good life in Hawaii.

The Zodiac is probably doing the same somewhere.  An FBI genealogy unit in LA is mentioned in locating the teenager who wrote a letter.  There are conflicting reports about Zodiac's DNA being recovered.  If it has been, is the FBI just needing a suspect to compare it to?

To the best of my knowledge, any DNA investigations are occurring at the local police departments and not with the FBI. The FBI has assisted the multiple jurisdictions involved, but unlike the Cooper case, it is not the lead agency.

While there have been rumors that there is a full DNA profile for the Zodiac, law enforcement has only said that they recovered a partial profile. Moreover, it was learned recently that the DNA recovered in 2001 was taken from the FRONT of the stamp rather than the rear where the saliva would be. Obviously, that would result in a tainted sample.

The bottom line is that there is a very muddled story regarding Zodiac and DNA.

Just finished watching the episode. Congrats and great job all around. Many of you are old pros at this by now.

It did raise a few questions for me though.

1. I’ve always thought Cooper jumped with an NB-6. However, Gates kept referring to Cooper’s chute as a C-9. Is there a difference? If so, what is it?

2. Bruce, you said in the opening that you believed that Reca WAS walking through the rain in a suit on the same day of the hijacking, but you never elaborated. Care to explain?

Again, a well done episode that did well by distancing itself from most suspects and focusing on case evidence.

The Night Before... - A Poem by Snowmman

Tomorrow’s Thanksgiving, today is folklore,
Last year is history, like forty before.
So stop what you’re doing, give your brain a long rest,
Hear a tale of great daring, from the Pacific Northwest.

He dressed all in black, with a long skinny tie,
He looked just like anyone, a regular guy.
He asked for a ticket, a twenty in hand,
One way to Seattle, my first name is Dan.

Off to the gate, he would blend with the crowd,
Sit and have a few smokes, back then t’was allowed.
His eyes were quite dark, and filled up with hate,
Northwest just announced, his flight would be late.

It started to gust, began pouring rain,
It would only get worse, for that three-engined plane.
Now chiseled in history, not some dark archive,
Is a skydive of infamy, from Flight 305.

He sat in the back, the very last row,
He gave his instructions, and wouldn’t ya know.
The Stewardess ignored them, this killed the whole plot,
She thought he was flirting, because she was hot.

He stood from his seat, took off his raincoat,
Said to her flatly, you should read that note.
All right sir she said, with an audible hiss,
It said I’ve got a bomb, come sit next to me miss.

He showed her his package, thoughts raced through her head,
What are all those things, and why are they red?
He said I’m in charge now, this is my last stand,
Get four parachutes, and two-hundred grand.

She went to the galley, the note she would show,
To another Attendant, named Tina Mucklow.
She was blonde and soft spoken, and now a subplot,
Cuz Tina is gorgeous, I mean smokin’ hot.

She talked to the stranger, he said what to do,
Now go to the front, and tell all the crew.
Tina went to the cockpit, to see Captain Scott,
I hope that I’ve mentioned, she’s scorchingly hot.

Now land in Seattle, and pick up the chutes,
Tina will get them, in her Go-Go boots.
Then outside again, to pick up the money,
This also was done, by 305’s honey.

She brought him a drink, and lit up his smokes,
He sipped at the bourbon, and took a few tokes.
Now Tina was stuck, in the worst of nightmares,
When he said, OK miss now open those stairs.

She did as instructed - and did it just right,
For the pilots could see, the small flashing light.
They stared at each other, not one word was spoken,
That light said it all, the aft stairs were open.

Now Cooper just jumped, into the cold air,
The first to have used, those little-known stairs.
Some blame it on Nam, or President Nixon,
The answer’s much closer, with 305’s vixen.

She turned down his money, when he offered her some,
Would soon join a convent, and be a hot nun.
What can be learned, from this history and lore?
Even with two-hundred grand, some guys still…just can’t score.

Editor's Note: Snowmman wrote this poem as part of the 2011 Symposium's Poetry Contest. I had the pleasure of reading it to the assembled in Portland's Hilton Hotel. I thought it might be timely as Snow says that he doesn't remember writing it!

I believe Jeff Osaidacz is telling the truth that he picked up Walter Reca on the side of the road outside of Cle Elum, WA on the night of the skyjacking and took him to a coffee shop. I've spoken with Jeff and he sounds like a stand-up guy. Also, his reputation in town is solid.

The Big Question is: What was Reca doing there? Vern Jones says that if I write a book about what Walt was doing there, he'll publish it. At this point, I've turned down the offer because dealing with the Peca/Reca family is torturous. But I suspect that the CIA and MK-ULTRA might be involved.

Did Jeff Osaidacz know Recca? Or, did Jeff Osaidacz pick up some guy who people later said was Recca/DB Cooper. Is it possible Jeff Osaidacz picked up Holly McVendoxthiotz instead?

Recca sure looks like Cooper. Like salmon look like elephants! But what the hell. Cooper could look like anyone-anything. That's the first rule of the Vortex .   :)
