Things have not been good the last couple months. my mom is the strongest person I've come across. she beat breast cancer and then a fractured hip. several weeks ago she had to be rushed to the hospital with stomach and back pains. her intestines flipped and twisted, something I never heard of and was a couple hours from death had she not called out for help. she was in the hospital for about 10 days and released.

The doctor ordered a biopsy a week ago and the results came back for lung cancer. she must under go chemo once again starting on the 19th.

This has taken a toll on me mentally setting me off at the slightest things. the strength my mother has going through all of this is utterly amazing. she just goes with the flow hoping for the best like it's no big deal. she lost a lot of weight with the twisted intestine, she's down to 92 lbs from about 125-130. being in her 80's shows enormous courage and the will to live. I'm very proud of her and her actions and blessed she is my mother..

Dave Brown

My best wish's and prayers to both of you!

New Cooper Movie Review

Synopsis of: "I am DB Cooper."

Add another confession to the list. This time it's a fella from the Sedro Wooley, WA area named Rodney Bonnifield. Yes, this is the guy that I was told about by a gal named "Kari" a year or two ago. Good news, though. Although Kari was unable to provide me with any substantive details, such as Date of Birth, height, weight, build, etc., the movie did deliver at least one definitive data point: DB Cooper/Rodney Bonnifield was born in 1952, which means he was 19 for the skyjacking. When the lights came on at the end of the movie, I exclaimed sotto voce "Boy, it sure is good to know that DB Cooper is younger than me," and the whole audience around me burst out laughing.

Even the film crew began to doubt Rodney by the end of the movie, especially as he led them on a wild goose chase in the northern reaches of Tena Bar and Ridgefield/Woodland. But Eric's gonna find a lot of new holes dug downstream from his own little spot where he's been digging for the past year.

The movie may be interesting for some, as it provides a lot of back story on Rodney's life as a bona fide rural American gangster. For instance: He started his life of crime at 9-years old by stealing ice cream and robbing the til at the local soda shoppe. Rodney is now doing time in the Walla Walla Penitentiary for stabbing someone with a knife. He'll be out in a couple of years. It was a four year stretch. Aggravated assault.

His confession to being DB Cooper is a hot mess, but he tells it so well. He never missed a beat whenever anyone asked him a question. And he gives such delightful and juicy side comments - such as describing a conversation with Larry Finegold about Larry's sloppy hairpiece - that blows the mind of those not well-schooled in Cooper Lore.

In short, Rodney seems to believe his story well-enough and his emotional affect seems to be legit. Hence, all his buddies believe him.

Further, it was fun seeing how Rodney grabbed so many tidbits of details from the Mountain News, Google, and general Internet searches to concoct his DBC story. In reality, we have a Walter Reca kinda of candidate who is alive, full of confidence, and telling his tale to anyone who will listen. His bail bondsmen - Mike and Carlos Rocha are a true believers - and they are the guys who put the story into the filmmakers hands. It seems that the movie's director, JT Regan, is dating Mike Rocha's daughter.

It's a well-made movie, and the production values are excellent. But for those of us in the Vortex, the movie's probably gonna make ya scream. I saw the movie tonight as part of the Seattle International Film Festival, and the movie's producers said that they are about to enter into negotiations with all the big boys in Hollywood They expect the flick to be on streaming services in a couple of months.

For more information: I am DB Cooper the movie.com.

Note to Darren: Bro, if you're gonna interview these guys, ya gotta ask them why they never bothered to get a scintilla of corroboration from anyone outside the Rodney Bonnifield universe. That absence makes the movie doubly maddening.

Lastly, they portrayed Tina as a married woman, and that bothered me....... Ya know what I'm saying....

Thanks Bruce.  It's hard to imagine how they got past the age of the candidate to the point of actually making a movie.  Seems to me that's an immediate disqualification, did they address the age discrepancy ?

Not in any substantial manner. The filmmakers were in love with Rodney. He beguiled them. That's okay, and I told them so - "Yeah, make a movie about an adorable thug who is a bullshit artist, but be real about it. You should tell the audience on the opening scene that what is to follow is probably bullshit." Instead, they made a movie that tried to be an honest, break-through documentary on DBC and capture the weird and tortuous life of Rodney, writ large. They failed. But as they were failing they began to realize they were failing, and so there were glimmers at the end that they had just produced a beautiful pile of goop. In effect, they should have started the movie where they ended it. In essence, they crafted a well-filmed first draft. Now that serious audiences are beginning to laugh at them, and they are getting exposed to real investigators in the Cooper Sphere, they may sense their error and begin anew.

News on Cossey

One of the joys of attending DB Cooper movies in public is meeting Cooperites who don't attend CC21, post here or on the DZ, or call me in the middle of the night. Such was my experience last night in Seattle, when I met Bob Taylor, a former teacher at the Leota Middle School in Woodinville. Bob had a lot to say about Coss. They hated each other. More to the point, Bob was able to tell me more about Coss' gambling habit. Apparently Coss was in deep doo-doo with the school authorities because he would make his daily gambling bets from the teacher's lounge, and when he didn't pay up, the bookies would call the teacher's lounge.

So, after three hours of beer and wine, I sent Bob home with "homework," ie: find out the circumstances of Coss' leaving Leota. Was he fired? Quit under threat of termination? Or was it just a regular retirement? I've heard rumors from parents and former students that Coss had a very checkered career at Leota.

Bob was also able to give me a fuller description of Coss as a teacher. Apparently, Coss did not teach math, as he had claimed to me. Rather, Coss tutored students in "Sky Sports," in five classes per day - a full load for a teacher. The classes were "electives" and were wildly popular with the kids. Hence, the classes were packed. Basically, Coss taught them how to build solid-fueled rockets. They loved him. Further, Bob says that all the particles and rare earth minerals found on the tie could be found in Coss' classrooms - mostly from the solid rocket fuel. So, I gave Bob more homework - to list all the stuff in Coss' classroom and compare it to Tom Kaye's findings.

Also, Coss was an inveterate liar, Bob said, telling me that Coss was constantly lying, and lied about everything.

Lastly, Bob Taylor thinks Earl Cossey was DB Cooper. Describing that line of thinking took most of the three hours. However, as widely read on Cooper as Bob Taylor is, his retention of facts is selective. Nevertheless, I drove home with two new DBC suspects on my mind. Not too shabby for a Monday night, eh?

Something in the Northwest Files are newspaper articles from immediately after the hijacking, and Cossey is quoted in these articles. He put himself center stage right away.

New Cooper Movie Review

Synopsis of: "I am DB Cooper."...

Interesting. But two things...

One, the age difference, which you addressed with JAG. 19 is a far cry from mid-forties.

Two, this statement...

In short, Rodney seems to believe his story well-enough and his emotional affect seems to be legit.

I mean, if the guy's a crook and a con and a balderdasher and he wants to concoct a story and run with it, that's one thing. But short of a mental issue, how does one 'believe' a story that they know is not true?

A real DBC movie has to have a wife having affairs. For the sex scenes of course.
There can be some transition to ex-wife.

now, now, I see where you're going with the indirect reference to certain current political groups in the USA.

Be my guest, Snow. But you don't have to worry about me. My landlord is the guy you have to worry about. He lives on the other side of the driveway has put me on a short leash after Bobby B and Meyer came looking for me at night, only to be followed the next night by two snippity Pierce County Sheriff deputies on a welfare check to see if I was okay, since fellow Cooperites were worried since I wasn't answering my phone, being I was in NY taking care of Mom. Speaking of which, I will be in NY for May and June, again taking care of Mom. But I will be in touch because I now have Internet connection in NY.

Yeah, Dude Man - look around. LOTS of people believe stuff that others consider bogus. Haven't you heard - birds are fake news; they are all drones produced by the Deep State to monitor our conversations. Wake Up!

Dude Man, maybe Rodney is a walking, talking participant of MK-Ultra. Maybe the CIA taught him to believe that he really is DB Cooper.

Speaking of which, Vern Jones and Principia Media are Doubling Down on Walter Reca as DBC. Vern has written a book on his experiences developing Carl Laurin's book on Reca that got the whole party started. Vern sent me an advanced copy to read so I could write a blurb and review. Just opened the package, so stay tuned...

Yup. Coss "presented" himself to the FBI Seattle Office on Friday morning.
