Tom Colbert called me this evening to see how I was doing. he has been working on unsolved murders, Hoffa, Zodiac etc. he's sending me some links that I will post later about how some of the messages from the Zodiac were indeed cracked as mentioned in the past.

Update: Just got the email..what he sent me has not been published. I'll have to ask him about making the info public...
I’m curious to see what he has.

Here are the facts:

The Z408 was solved by Donald Harden and his wife in August of 1969. This is the cipher that begins “I LIKE KILLING…” and includes references to the short story The Most Dangerous Game. The solution was verified by the FBI, the NSA, and Naval codebreakers. There is no dispute as to its accuracy.

The Z340 was solved by a team of David Oranchak and two other gentlemen in December of 2020. The cipher references a hoaxed appearance on a TV show and talks about how he isn’t afraid of the gas chamber. This solution has also been verified by the FBI’s Cryptoanalysis and Racketeering Records Unit. This is their official statement:

“Over the past 51 years, the CRRU has reviewed numerous proposed solutions form the public - none of which had merit. The cipher was was recently solved by a team of three private citizens.”

The two other Zodiac ciphers (the Z13 and the Z32) remain unsolved, and likely will never be solved because the shorter the code, the more potential solutions.

Regarding Colbert’s Zodiac investigation:  it has been widely mocked in the Zodiac community. His suspect Gary Poole has been thoroughly vetted by the online community and the whole things smells of a craven publicity stunt. His team’s press release repeatedly misspelled names of victims and their alleged cipher solutions were based on anagrams. The previously mentioned Mr. Oranchak has debunked these solutions on his YouTube page.

The bottom line is that Colbert’s suspect is very poor and any suggestion of a cipher solution should be taken with an entire shaker of salt.

That said, I’d still like to see what he has.

Chaucer, NONE, repeat NONE, of the Zodiac ciphers have been solved.  I'm not going to get into a fuller discussion on this at the present time, I'm too busy on other matters currently, but I may provide more details about this in the first half of 2022.  Just be patient and stay tuned.

Bob,
By continuing this claim, you are really and truly making a fool of yourself. Please do a minimal amount of research before making such erroneous claims.

It really hurts your credibility overall.

Chaucer, as I have told you about a dozen times, you haven't even figured out what comprises the cipher(s).  So your claims to having solved them are nonsense.

If you are going to solve a cipher or any problem, the first thing you need to do is determine what comprises the cipher or problem.  And you have simply not done that.

Again, none of the Zodiac ciphers have been solved and the probability of solving them is somewhere between very little and zero.

First, I didn’t solve anything. Had you read my post above, you’d know that.

Second, arguing about whether the ciphers were solved or not is like arguing over whether a horse is an animal or not.

I won’t waste my time on it anymore. Believe what you want.

Bruce,

Are you having email issues? I tried to send you one and it bounced back to me.

Yes.

And they seem to be resolved at present. The glitch occurred during the time I was in New York: Oct 12-Nov.2. No one seems to know how or why, but a new laptop and WiFi at Starbucks in NY are thought to be culprits. And of course, my email provider. I believe everything is straightened out at this point. In a few moments I'm off to my tech guy to retrieve my errant laptop.

3rd Edition of DB Cooper and the FBI now available

At long last, the Third Edition of DB Cooper and the FBI - A Case Study of America's Only Unsolved Skyjacking, is available.

It was published by Moonshine Cove Press of Abbeville, South Carolina through the generous advocacy of our own Nat Loufoque and a couple of his literary compadres. Thanks to all who helped me get this book to the finish line.

It's available at Amazon and all bookstores in both paperback and Kindle. I should have copies for sale at CC21, too, if the USPS can find a truck and driver to get them to me, as they are currently sitting in a postal sorting facility in Los Angeles and have been there for several days. Sigh....

To find out what's new in the 3rd and how it differs from the 2nd, I've written a piece on the subject at the Mountain News:

Basically, the 3rd discusses everything that has happened since 2016, and I had to cut the Marla chapter in half to make some space. I still came in at 504 pages in the 3rd. I call it the Torah and the Talmud of Cooper.

So there's this book from Robert H. Edwards "D.B. Cooper and Flight 305: Rexamining the Hijacking and Disappearance"

lots of color pics which is interesting (pricier to print). of all the stuff we've familiar with. A good dissecting of FBI files

But page 217, I read (attached)

For what it is worth, we [ Ed. the royal "we" ?? ] are prepared to advance the hypothesis that the single most likely prior occupation of the hijacker would have been loadmaster in the US Air Force, and that all or part of his service would have been in the Korean War. In that event he would have most probably flown on the C-124

I mean, he can have his hypothesis, but that sentence is just speculation. It's funny he says "most likely".

He's totally out of touch with who and what and how were part of the USA involvement in Vietnam. Just as a "fer-instance"

I mean really...actor, phd etc.
But he's just another speculator in the vortex?

Doc Edwards interviewed me several years ago. Five? The interview was a little odd, I recall. Not sure how. Egg-heady, maybe. Frankly, I'm surprised that he wrote this book. I'll have to read it. So it's available, eh?

amazon.
I have not bought it.
You can click on the preview and scroll thru preview pages and get a feel for the book.
It's interesting. I got the vibe that's it's a compendium of all the info available, if you started around the time a lot of fbi files were released.
