We're rural lake country MN, so the Sheriff's office actually calls in a local fishing guide to help with recovery. Fishing sonar... is not that clear. I'm just repeating what I've heard over the years.

Due to a large number of suicides off the Golden Gate Bridge, commercial fishermen see a few bodies offshore. I've queried some of my fishing buddies about body positions and none have seen feet up floaters. Not saying it can't happen, but they haven't seen any. Usual position is prone, draped over, face down.

According to the recovery guys I've talked to out here (MN), most bodies are found bent out the waist, similar to the fetal position, which makes IDing a body with sonar more difficult.

Thinking of Petey

The New York Times posted an interesting article today that made me think of Sheridan Peterson. The piece was part of their on-going series on the Vietnam War, and it was an account from a Foreign Service worker who was stationed in the SW portion of Vietnam in Binh Long Province. His duty station was around An Loc, '66-'68. As I remember Petey's tale, he was there, too!

I called the author but he hustled me off the phone, saying he was going to check out the Mountain News, etc. Hmmmm....

The author mentioned the Special Forces "A" Team at An Loc, which is the crew that Petey described as being blown away by their Nung auxiliaries in a retaliatory ambush for stiffing them in pay and other improper behaviors, disrespect, etc.

I've got a call into Pete for clarification, but no word as of yet.

Way off-topic, but interesting. NY Times is also reporting today that the temperatures at the North Pole have gone into the mid-30s this week. Middle of winter and the ice is melting? YIKES. WA Post is also reporting this story.

Yes, I read that yesterday. It worries me - my parents' hometowns are islands. I wonder how high the water will rise, and if/when anybody with any power will actually do something about it.

Do you have a link the the NY Times piece? Vietnam is following me today - someone at work brought in Apocalypse Now, wanted me to watch a couple of the special features. (I've seen the movie, and it's great, but I could not possibly go through it again.)

Either Nickyb, or Blevins have tried to pull a fast one on me...Robert is on Bruce's site stating I hired Nickyb to monitor his forum! I quickly responded asking that all emails be forwarded to me for verification...I gave him 24 hours to send the proof..

this is just a portion of what he has accused me of...

NickyB comes back with two messages. First, says that Shutter hired him to join. He had also represented himself as Shutter’s lawyer. I sort of shrugged my shoulders on that one. (“Figures. Typical Shutter stuff.”) Second message says: “We’re coming after the main AB site, and contacting the movie producers…” Then I got pissed off. Who wouldn’t?

I have announced a ten-post limit per day total for the DB Cooper threads at the Mountain News. Therefore all the players will have to decide how they want to use the community time.

Or the fact that two other people told me of the comments made. this was a bold accusation he made which ended up being completely false. one person on that thread thought there might be some truth into the accusation..no heads up from the administration wasn't one of the two either. accusing someone of conspiring with others in order to hurt someone is a very serious charge IMHO.

He can say what ever he wants about what I think about Kenny, or his actions on another forum, but to accuse me of conspiring with people is where I draw the line..once I cornered him his tune drastically changed. he had an idea it was false but the way he wrote the comments made it appear I was guilty, and it appears some believed it...yes, I'm going to make sure the record is straight where ever I wish to comment about it..

"thought police" can't fight crime...actions speak louder than thoughts...instead of thinking, perhaps you should take action against those who make serious accusations against people...crap like this got him thrown out of Ariel years back..

Shutter & Bruce - I hope you understand that it was not my intention to stir up a shit storm on The Mountain News. I've been questioning Blevins a bit there lately, because quite frankly I think it needs to be done. Believe it or not, some people actually believe his BS. So sometimes he needs to be questioned about some things. But, Blevins is a wordsmith. He uses certain words to imply things. Just like he always uses the word "testified" when talking about things people said about Kenny. "Testified" sounds more legal and implies that things were said in a legal situation, perhaps even under oath. Several months ago, Bruce had to scold me and Blevins because things got a little testy on his site. So, I tried to keep it civil this time, even engaging is some small talk. Nothing wrong with that at all. I took him to task a few times over his statement that this site was "passed over" when it came to the Cooper movie. Yesterday, I finally got him to agree that you guys and Marty actually said No to him and the production company, meaning of course, it was they who were "passed by" if anyone was.

So, when he said that Shutter had "motivated" Nicky to join his forum as a spy, I wanted to know what he meant by "motivated". Did he mean that Shutters actions caused Nicky to do this on his own, or was he saying that Shutter put him up to it? Big difference, in my opinion. It certainly sounded like he was accusing Shutter of putting Nicky up to it. I had two thoughts on that: First thought: That does not sound like Shutter; Second thought: That's a pretty strong accusation. That's why I asked Blevins to Clarify. As Shutter pointed out, some people actually believed Blevins. So clarification was needed.

You did absolutely nothing wrong parrot..we all know we shouldn't go down that road with him, it never turns out good...and that's not because he was right either..he lashes out when you smack some truth into him..

I took this accusation as a very serious issue..that's why I called him out. I'm up before 5 every morning, and I just got home now (7:11 pm) I don't have time to get involved with people to sneak onto a forum..we all know Mr. Blevins takes that cake. He knew it was BS but instead he took advantage of the situation, just like he did at Ariel...I don't converse with people who are no longer here. I have reinstated people, but I don't have any relations with members of this forum outside of a chosen few.

I had the honor to meet Mark Bennett & Vicki some years back when they came down to Florida. I have spoken with Georger several times over the years, along with Bruce. I've also spoken with Tom Kaye several times, and email him often. I've spoken with Tom Colbert as well..

To clear up the movie saga, I was never contacted by anyone..Blevins is blocked on my emails. The producers never contacted me..if they did, my response would have been the same, no thanks, I will not work with this man, period! That's when the $15,000 dangling carrot came into play. Media sources come and go all the time with Cooper..I'm not in this for fortune & fame. They contact me directly when they wish to speak with me, it's worked every time..

The last time Nicky was brought to my attention was with Bruce...he acted as a go between asking me to reconsider allowing him back on the forum..Nicky had emailed me before, and I never responded. I'm not sure why Nicky is focused on Robert, but he played him pretty good..Bruce stated in the email that he has matured more than in the past, and believes in second chances...looks like I dodged a bullet once again by not allowing him back,,

'Ted" sounds suspicious IMO...poster on MN.

If I was errant in not erasing false statements about you at the MN, Shutter, I apologize. In my defense, I simply didn't have the patience or visual acuity to read ALL of the dozens of posts, and ascertain which ones were objectionable.

Frankly, I don't think too many other people read the mess at the MN, either, so the negative consequences to you should be minimal. But if your reputation is impacted at an unacceptable level, I will endeavor to resolve it. For now, how about we let this flood of crapola slide under the bridge?

As for Blevins, my policy is not to engage him. I rarely read his emails and posts, and only in the most extreme of circumstances do I respond to him. It's like wrestling with a pig. Every one gets muddy, but only the pig enjoys it.

That said, Blevins is part of the Norjak story, as is Jo Weber. The salient question is what we do about them.
