Carr says the FBI had no "holdback" information. Everything they know is publicly known.

To me, that's a pretty important take away to get on the record. To me, things that would fall into this category are rumors like:
- He had a scar on the hand
- Some dialogue between Cooper and the crew that hasn't been reported in the 302s as of yet.  Agent RH made comments about how he used vulgar
language etc.

Thanks for the summary.

Regardless of what Carr said, the FBI is definitely holding back information that is actually in the public domain.

Last I checked? Earth-616.

That said, I’m not asking to be argumentative. I’m curious which items specifically you think they are withholding.

Are you referring to the redacted ATC transcripts? As you know because I shared it with you, I tried to FOIA those recently and received word back that they no longer exist because they were destroyed after 45 days. I have yet to respond back.

If they were destroyed after 45 days, then what are all those transcripts doing on this site after 50 years?  They certainly weren't destroyed on January 9th, 1972.

I've just had another trawl through the tie particles, specifically looking for 7000 and 2000 series aluminium.
The reasoning behind this is that those are the 2 most likely alloys you will come across in the aircraft industry, there's literally tons on any Boeing.
I found zero 7000 series and only 1 particle that falls anywhere near a 2000 series.
This may mean something, it may mean nothing, just putting it out there as info.

Perhaps this is silly question, but does anyone know or has anyone ever asked if the FBI took/has "crime scene" photographs from inside of N467US once they landed in Reno and examined the plane?  I know there are pictures of the inside of the plane from the sled test in early 72, but was really wondering if they had pictures of row 18, the aft stairs, the controls for lowering the stairs ?  Is this something that TK or Geoffrey Gray could confirm based on their access to the FBI files on the case ?  If they exist, could FOIA be made for them or would it be included in the current monthly releases ?

Would it be fair to say that 7000 and 2000 series aluminum are more widespread in the aerospace industry than titanium?

Yes, both series have been around since the 1930s and are used extensively in aerospace. Seems a little odd that neither seems to be there, yet relatively rare titanium alloys are, especially given the fact that titanium was aerospace focused at that time.

Here's a question for georger and hominid. On 01.28.2014 you interviewed Harold Anderson, the flight engineer on Flight 305. In parentheses you wrote: "[One of the airforce guys (Msgt Saiz) who went out on the stair told me that he jumped up and down on the stair at some point to test how the plane would react.  Of course, he was able to experience how the stair responded, but not how the plane responded.  The other two still-living airforce people have no memory of this.]".

Could you share a transcript of your interview with MSgt Saiz?

Unfortunately, I believe Hom passed away, and georger is no longer participating on this forum.

Hominids name was Jerry Phillips. I haven't heard from him in years due to health issues he was having. the last contact is below. I think it was Georger who said he passed away, never got any conformation but it appears to be true.

August 15, 2018

Thanks for asking, Dave.  I've gotten crippled up in my left hip.  Been busy helping my
old "girl" friend who is crippled in both hips.  Lookin for a doc now.  Will probably be
getting a hip replacement.

I just a few days ago happened to find on ebay a 1971 sectional chart for Portland.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it actually shows up and is as advertised.

Take care of yourself.

Jerry

Interestingly the Geoffrey Gray account - whist it could be reconciled with the FBI statement - seems different enough that one may gain a different impression of Cooper. Would be good to hear Gray on a podcast. Did he interview Lysne separately for his book?

Interesting thing I just noticed.

It said that he "received instructions to the flight area".

Might be over-analysis, but if Cooper needed directions to the gate, then that might indicate a lack of familiarity with Portland airport.

Is it known, did Cooper 'need' directions, did he ask for them, or did the ticket agent just automatically give directions because that's part of what they do?

Right. We don’t know.

Seems an odd detail to mention though.
