As a layperson, the "stuffing" of a 28' and the modification of a ripcord to make it more difficult to pull sounds scary and reckless. Doesn't seem that Cossey was a "by the book" kind of guy.

yeah it's kind of ridiculous. But if he really thought it was his personal rig, he may have had reasons for the mod.
dudeman can chime in on the benefits (at least postulated back then) for a right hand outboard pull.
People experimented with a lot of things.
Things were still in the discovery phase of how it all plays together, and what the hell the goal is for jumping, anyhow. Made up games.

If you read my previous two posts, I think I described exactly why he would do that.

My 26 ft Navy Conical ride was around 1972 after cutting away from a C9 malfunction. The Conical was in a chest reserve container.

In all my early days I saw only a couple of NB rigs used by skydivers. The VAST majority of surplus rigs were USAF not Navy.

A New Tidbit of Information on the Getaway

KIRO News in Seattle had a Special 50th Broadcast this weekend and some interesting news was shared that I hadn't heard about, or was eager for confirmation.

1. When 305 took off from Sea-Tac, it was followed immediately by a "large military helicopter," presumably a Chinook. The helo quickly lost pace with the jet, however. This tidbit comes from Bruce McKim, the AP reporter taking pix from the observation roof at Sea-Tac. He was based in Portland and traveled up to Sea-Tac to follow the story as it unfolded.

2. Passenger Larry Finegold is still alive, and is currently living in Israel. He was interviewed and confirmed that an FBI agent named "John" entered the plane and talked with him.

3. Larry Carr is still talking like he is stuck in 2008. Sigh.

just scanned this article which said "Michael Cooper" is still alive too (passenger). Lives in Sequim, WA now.

SPOKANE — For a few short hours overnight in November 1971, Missoula’s Michael Cooper may have been the most wanted man in the United States.

The world geography high school teacher had caught Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 in Montana and stopped in Spokane and Portland, before a final puddle jump to Seattle. He shared a Boeing 727 cabin with the man history has dubbed “D.B. Cooper,” the only American flight hijacker whose case remains unsolved today.

“When we got off the airplane, there was a bus that was parked not far away from the aircraft,” Michael Cooper, who now lives in Sequim, said by phone this week. “As soon as we sat down on the bus, one of the FBI agents started to call the roll of the passengers.”

Here's a tidbit.
Carr evidently told this reporter he plans to retire "soon"..in 10 months

For Carr, who plans to retire from the FBI soon, the message to the public remains simple. If they have actionable evidence that could reveal the true identity of the hijacker, let him know. Sooner rather than later.

“If someone’s going to come forward, I’m retiring in 10 months,” Carr said. “It would be a great departing achievement after 32 years in law enforcement.”

Darren has told me that Larry is gonna do the Vortex podcast when he retires.

Glad to read that Mike Cooper is still alive. He hasn't returned any emails in a few years, so I thought he might have passed. He'd be in his late 70s.

scouring the internet, turning over every rock and pebble left behind by the metaverse floods ..
Found this with my one dying eye.
Fr. 1901-L $1 1963A Federal Reserve Note. PMG Very Fine
serial L00000004B
at (you can look here to be sure I'm not making anything up, or photoshopping anything)

NOW ALL YOU COOPER SLEUTHS WILL RECOGNIZE THAT IMMEDIATELY!
I know I did.

L00000004B 1963A is on fbi file 55 page 167
It's row 26 group A

The only problem is that it's a $1 bill, not a $20 bill.
I have attached the front of said bill, PCGS certified, and the fbi file 55 page 167 so you can verify on row 26 (group A is the first group, left)

I'm sending the full list of serials through google every day. Will be interesting to let it run for a few years as the metaverse builds out and all reality comes online in alternate form.

The planet is being warmed due to carbon emissions to fuel said searches, that and bitcoin mining in China with coal electricity.

I butt-dialed Edwards and discussed this discovery.
He suggests that it's a Cooper bill, that has been morphed from a $20 to a $1 by unknown processes available to Cooper.

Edwards is calculating the probablity behind this discovery and will include it in his next edition. He needs to develop some new math extensions to get the accuracy right in the prediction.

what the found $1 shows, is that it's unpredictable what aspect of a serial might make it collectable, therefore still in existence today
that one had lots of leading zeros. Low serial. Collectors like that.
Also star notes, and "full set of districts". So the rare districts might be more interesting than San Francisco L
but who knows
unpredictable.

I emailed Tom Kaye about the claims Dr. Edwards makes in his book regarding titanium and titanium oxide. In his book, Dr. Edwards states:

"The Citizen Sleuths website describes the source as titanium metal; however, our communications with Mr. Kaye indicate that the particles were titanium oxide, a widely used component of food coloring, paints and pigments, and sunscreen."

"Titanium, which at one time suggested an exposure of the tie to an environment within the aerospace industry, eventually appeared to be no more than a marker for, most probably, paints and pigments."

While I won't write Tom's response verbatim, he did make it clear that these statements are NOT accurate. Moreover, he indicates that he never had any communication with Dr. Edwards about the titanium on the tie specifically.

Bottom line is that the claims in Dr. Edwards book about the titanium oxide are erroneous.
“Completely unhinged”

Like I said, I smelled a bullshit artist a mile away.
That said, Robert99 still says I have sour grapes.
Why is Edwards take on the world right and "great book"
I mean he's just twisting facts into this theories.
People who think similarily end up thinking it's a great book.

this is a story about biases, not science ..Nor math.
Math is abused here.
