Brave post. But I won’t give you any heat for your musical preferences. The Monkees were a manufactured band. What’s impressive is that they actually produced some very decent songs. Over 75 million records sold.

Steven Stills auditioned to be a Monkee but was rejected. With his then bad teeth he didn’t look the part. I like Stills a lot but can’t see him as a Monkee. He was too much on the deep and dark side for their comparatively fluffy music.

I’ll take the Fab Four over the Monkees but I’m not a Monkee basher. They were a very popular band and I do enjoy a lot of their music.

Mark Said will get the FBI Monkee files. Someone in DOJ will tell the FBI to just turn it over. Mark is a tenacious lawyer and can make a LOT of work for govt lawyers if he is stonewalled.

J Edgar Hoover did a lot of really stupid things including chasing “commies”
and their sympathizers while organized crime flourished. He saw John Lennon as a bigger threat than John Gotti.

Thanks 377, always the gentlemen. We could use more of that in the Vortex. I'm not saying I'm a huge Monkees fan, just less of a Beatles fan, though they do have a few tunes I like. I had no idea about Steven Stills! I don't think that would have lasted long had he been accepted in.

On a side note, my 20 year old daughter asked me a couple of nights ago who I thought was the greatest band ever. My answer: The Rolling Stones. Another band that I'm not a huge fan of, but they're ok. But that was my unbiased answer. My biased answere would have been AC/DC.

Interesting you would say AC/DC as in 1988 my Daughter was dating Stevie Young who at the time was filling in for Malcolm who was ill due to alcohol abuse. My wife and I went to a concert and were invited down to meet the Band.
Bryan Johnson sat down with my wife and I and shared a beer. Great friendly guy as was the entire group. Angus mooning the crowd was a regular part of the act. It’s not
Y type of music but it was a happening to remember. I’m more JohnnyMathis type !

Ha ha, that guy would have been a much better replacement than Axl Rose was.

So,  I guess Queen Elizabeth II died.

As an Irish Catholic American and strong Irish Republican, I don’t give a shit.

To steal a post from Twitter:

I only wish the people she colonized and oppressed in Ireland, Africa, and South Asia had the opportunity to die as she did: in a warm bed in a beautiful home surrounded by her family.

Chaucer,

As a descendant of English, German, Scottish, Irish, and other ancestors that have been in North America for 350+ years and who fought with the British prior to 1776 and against them in 1776 and onward, I do not share your views.

I have thousands of cousins of every racial group including white, black, Hispanic, Asian, etc., and all major religious groups including Protestant, Jewish, and Catholic and I am sure that they will agree with me.

Elizabeth II did not colonize anyone.  In fact, quite a bit of decolonization took place during her 70 years as Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II was a great lady who faithfully fulfilled the role that the Fates assigned to her.  She was a genuine credit to the entire human race.

Well I am Catholic all day and twice on Sunday, but I am not a Republican.  I do not hold allegiance to anyone other than Jesus.  I have no animosity towards the Queen.  She seemed to be very nice to all she encountered but I confess that I do not have all the facts.  I felt bad for Diana for sure. The queen lived longer than I ever will and in a not so shabby place either. I guess they look at here death like we looked at JFK's but of course John's life was cut short by a nobody jackass and likely another we will never really know?  I do believe Oswald was not the only shooter.  Sorry to go off topic but these are comparable in the way they were huge figures in their countries. So now this guy that is King, I do not really care for.  So do they change the song to "God save the King?"  Why in the hell did they ever use those words anyway?  Oh well.  Back to the chase for DB.   Carry on

As someone from the UK, i'm completly indifferent. There's pros & cons to having a monarch. She was a very personable & practical lady who did her job well, but personally i don't agree with having a royal family at all. I'll be looking through the tie particle list and not watching the TV.

I remember that about Stephen Stills auditioning for the Monkees. He did make it onto TV, though. A young Buffalo Springfield, including Stills and Neil Young, appeared in a couple scenes on an early episode of Mannix, playing Bluebird and For What It's Worth. Those scenes can be found on Youtube.

Mannix had a couple of the coolest cars on TV, but he burnt his fingers on a piece of toast!

Mannix was one of my favorite shows as a kid.

Hey, Shutter,

All well? Had some tornadoes touch down near me. Lots of street flooding as well.
