While EU has some interesting thoughts, I hate hearing him going on and on about his report and spending 10 years investigating.

When someone claims "length of time" to bolster their case, you know they've got an agenda besides reporting the facts.

I still don't understand what EU's agenda is. He seems to want to justify wasting 10 years of his life or something.

It could be just marketing Snow. You found Sheridan in about ten days. I wouldn't be inclined to pay for a report that involved only ten days of investigating. "Years in the making" is a popular ad theme.

We Vortex dwellers have all wasted portions of our lives on Cooper, and probably also on watching Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

Jo unabashedly fesses up to having wasted the latter portion of her life trying to prove that she was married to DB Cooper. I dilute the situation by pursuing other more productive work so I can pretend that Cooper is just a casual very occasional hobby. But there is that damned post counter that exposes my hypocrisy. Shutter, can that be turned off, or better yet reduced to a user selectable total?

When I first read Sheridan's book, I think I had been heavily reading about Braden and those guys in Vietnam and the shit that happened. A lot of rough stuff I knew of generally, but not in the visceral detail of the first person accounts I read while researching Braden and the other units there

But I remember getting physical pains reading Sheridan's book.

I wanted to share it with someone. I recently found I had like 10 packages of files I sent to 377 that I wanted him to read and understand before I shipped 377 his book.

The DZ was so crazy to start with, and here was another level of craziness.

I remember us discussing why Ckret seemed to disappear after that. He gave us no feedback when he was given the name Sheridan Peterson

Now, in seeing the depth of the Peterson records at the FBI, I wonder what Ckret must have thought. I don't think anyone had mentioned the Parachutist article at that time. But surely Ckret must have know about the 2002/2003 dna swab, yet he said nothing, and didn't tell us either in PM or online or anything.

Darren did a great job. I loved the podcast, and besides presenting an interview with me - a kind of inside-story-of-who-what-and-where - it is part of a larger podcast program called "The Cooper Vortex," which also has a separate interview with Bradley Collins.

Darren is very knowledgeable of the DB Cooper story and all of us characters. Excellent production values, too.

These podcasts make for great road storytelling. The production values are excellent, so you'll be able to hear most of the conversations. Plus, both interviews go into a lot of fascinating side details, like what I really think of Georger!!!

I just finished listening to the Bradley Collins piece, and it is by far the best rendition of his story that I have heard. I almost began believing him - and I am specifically mentioned as one of his TOP cynics.

Great! That will give me something to listen to on my drive to Little Rock next week!

Ah, Little Rock. Brings back memories...In 1990, I had a near-nervous breakdown approaching Little Rock when I relocated to Washington, via Santa Fe. So, I stopped at a Denny's outside of Hot Springs, talked on a pay phone with my best buddy for three hours, and then soaked in the hot tubs for three days until I had the strength to continue.

Have a good trip, Parrot!

I just listened to Bruce's full interview on The Cooper Vortex podcast. Well done both Darren and Bruce. My only request would be that from this point forward we formally acknowledge Bruce as the Mayor Of Cooperville and therefore refer to him as "The Mayor" or "Mr. Mayor" at least once during such proceedings...it's meant as a show of respect.

I've put the link to the Cooper Vortex podcast up at the Mountain News, along with a few thoughts on how it all came to be, and how refreshing I found the project. Darren will be adding to it in the days to come.

In the meantime, here's a link to the link:

I agree with the Mayor on this. It would be nice to have an in-depth oral history of the case from several principals that requires little more than closing your eyes and listening to enjoy. Also, the side stories are a nice compliment that are not terribly feasible in a concise written form but work well in a podcast format.
