Reca

Anybody get the Reca book, yet? I've asked Principia Media twice for a copy and have yet to receive my copy.

I am waiting for the off broadway musical version...

Dukeness: I do recommend the Colbert/Rackstraw book. It is not about Rackstraw-as-Cooper per se, it is more about Rackstraw's criminal persona, his significant criminal history, the Vietnam years, and the family dynamics. It's well-written and engaging. Worth the money, imho.

As for Principia Media, they are a strange bunch. Not sure what is going on there. Certainly not mailing out media copies. Hmmmm. Bad form, at the very least.

TCs Rackstraw book is a great read. Tons of positive Amazon reviews. Rackstraw is one scary sociopath. One wonders what else he has done that has not yet been tied to him.

377,
Just a quick interesting story locally here that you might find interesting. A pair of skydivers just made their 7 th jump at nearby Toledo, Wa yesterday. They plan on jumping in all 50 states for the first time ever done for a Veterans cause. It’s a Man and woman duo.

In their video there is some awesome footage of an amputee vet skydiver doing a very graceful solo barrel roll. Man, what grit.

Reca Update.

The book just came in from Principia. Now the hunt will commence to see if there is any value in it. Not on Cooper, obviously, but who Reca really was.

Reca isn't Cooper, but it will be interesting to investigate his life and what motivated him to make the detailed "I am Cooper" claim. If his USAF PJ claim is true, then he is among the super-qualified as far as parachuting skills go, right up there with Ted Braden and Sheridan Peterson.  USAF PJs are probably the most highly trained military parachutists, period.

So did you get a free book Bruce?

USAF PJs (assuming you mean pararescue jumpers) do not have as much highly specialized parachuting training as some of the special forces do.  The special forces, including Seals, etc., do highly technical things with parachutes that are not widely publicized.

Not sure I agree with you R99. My PJ friend, after serving in the USAF/ANG. joined the Army Special Forces. He saw both sides. His opinion is that the PJs are the military's most highly trained and capable parachutists. He did a lot of special ops stuff as a PJ including utilizing some really innovative locally designed and fabricated delivery systems. The differences, however, are irrelevant as far as Cooper qualifications are concerned. Seals, PJs, Green Berets, any of them could do the job.

I'm sure you know what HALO means.  Do you know what HAHO means?  Things like that go on in this general area but I haven't heard anything about Army Special Forces being involved in it.  The only time it makes it into the media is when fatal accidents occur and the media accounts are quite limited.  But from what I have read about it, it is extremely innovative.

Yup.

Reading it is like leaving no stone unturned. It's always amazing when odd things turn up.

I see this morphing. DB Cooper no longer matters. All the others do. Some may be DB Cooper and some may not. So little time, so many Coopers. Its all FAKE NEWS! No need to care any longer. Bruce you are out of a job!

Yes. I’ve made many HAHO jumps, up to 18,000 ft. Have done HALO from as high as 24,000 ft breathing supplental O2 prior to exit.

The military HAHO tech that intrigued me involved using tiny very high speed ram air canopies to allow high alt exits far away from intended LZ. These are jettisoned when near the LZ and a larger canopy is deployed for landing.

I just thought it interesting that right here in Cooper country there is an appliance store called “ D B Cooper Appiance “. I dropped in and it’s his family’s real name and initials. I’m sure they are capitalizing on the notoriety of the hyjackers caper as we all know D B Cooper is not his name !

Odd how its cool to be associated with a skyjacker who credibly threatened to kill the crew. You wouldn't see any Ted Bundy appliance stores, even if that were the owner's real name.
