I could walk outside and get hit in the head by a meteor. Just because it’s possible, doesn’t mean it’s probable. You could probably do that jump 10 times and be successful two or three.
A night jump over unknown terrain with no altimeter into cold, inclement weather wearing only a suit and loafers? With an extra 20lbs out weight tied to you? With an old military chute that you can’t really steer? Out of the back of a plane going nearly 200 mph?
You could probably do that jump 10 times and be successful in two of them. Not saying it’s impossible, but only a fool would think it was easy.
Ahem, my dear Chaucer. The actual statistics for skyjackers successfully jumping out of a 727 is 5 outta 5, with DBC still undecided. Besides McNally, we have Heady, LaPoint, McCoy, and Hahneman. One was in the snow in Colorado, three others were at night with one in the jungle of Honduras. Not too shabby, eh?
Speaking of meteors, did anyone see the comet NEOWISE? I caught it last week with binocs. It was pretty fuzzy, but distinguishable.
