I think it's safe to say most of us don't really care what happened behind the scenes during the Josh Gates program.

That includes me and probably Meyer as well. ;D

...Again, there were no "rehearsals" in the Tina Bar shoot and basically ever scene was done in a single "shot"...

Clearly we remember the events of that day differently. And probably have different definitions of what a rehearsal is.

As for the value of discussing what happens on a film shoot, I think it may be important down the road as we have a lot of new Cooper sleuths coming to the party and they will surely be in front of a camera sometime in the future.

I also think it is valuable to see how different our recollections of events can be. We can't even agree what happened on camera a year ago and we spent ALL DAY filming. Puts the memories of the crew and passengers into a more understandable light, imho.

Absolutely!  The Tina Bar shot was not a staged event.  And I did not see any "fakery" at Tina Bar.

Video of the 1971 Grey Cup half time skyjumpers in Vancouver BC. Game attendance referenced in the Cooper letter.

The jumpers were members of the The Canadian Forces Parachute Team, The Sky Hawks

Absolutely, and I regret going into some of the gory behind-the-scenes details regarding my conflicts with "street savvy journalist" Bruce Smith.  He wanted to be "drama queen for a day" here on the forum and spill all for all to see.  I did not want to go there, and it was unnecessary, actually.  .  I apologize -- it's true, no one here is actually interested in all the bullshit that went on behind the scenes.

In spite of it all, I value the experience.  It was good to see, and spend the day with, R99.  We went over lots of information, and had lengthy discussion,  the night before the shoot -- at the hotel.  I wanted to be sure I understood the Malay-Canby intersection and R99's theory and thinking on it.

We did like 7-10 retakes on several scenes, sometimes more.  Josh Gates wanted what he wanted.  I too was disappointed the show took the turn it did with the Reno jump and Hall's theory -- we all know it just can't be.  That came out of nowhere!  I was shocked the program took that turn.  I was expecting to see Shutter's flight simulator and was disappointed that didn't happen.

I was in contact with the producers on a daily basis for several weeks..originally, they wanted to send me to Sanford Florida that has the only known commercial flight simulator of a 727. the owners were not to over joyed about losing time with us using the simulator for the day, plus it only had daytime scenario's..then she decided to use the cockpit for most of the shots, and my simulator program for the rest. at this point I brought in another member of this forum to help with the simulator they have which is about as close as you are going to get with flying a real 727..his father was a retired 727 pilot..then once we start working on making this happen I got a call from the producers wanting to fly me to California to use a 737 simulator close by where the production company was..I expressed my concerns about many that will notice the difference between a 727 vs 737 cockpit, but agreed to this condition...I was getting several emails on a daily basis regarding either progress, or questions about what is needed, or going to happen..I noticed after a period of time that all communications stopped. this was about 2-3 weeks before I was dated to fly to California..two days before I was to leave I got an email..

Dave,

Amanda from Expedition Unknown here - no we didn’t fall off the earth.  Our shoot went very well and, in fact, it went so well, that right now we’re worried that we have too much material.  To that end, the decision was made by the higher ups to hold off on shooting the segment we had planned to shoot with you for now.

We started editing today, and it’s possible that the editors will come back and tell us that we need it, so its possible that we will circle back to you.  But at the moment there are no current plans to shoot the sequence.

I’m disappointed not to be able to meet you in person.  And I can’t thank you enough for all the help you provided.

Best regards,

Amanda

After watching the show it quickly became apparent that I was bumped off the show vs "too much footage"  for the jump segment they had towards the end of the show..I would of accepted Josh wanting to do a jump, but to be bumped by the guy with the claims of Cooper jumping near Reno disappointed me..I spent a lot of time with these people, way too much and learned a valuable lesson in dealing with future production companies...that's showbiz I guess....

I never responded back to this email....

Was this the 727 sim in FL? You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Not very many 727s left in service. That "extra" engine and "extra" cockpit crew member really adds to op costs.

(Wikipedia) As of July 2016, there were 64 Boeing 727s (4 Boeing 727-100s and 60 727-200s) in commercial operation with 26 airlines. Most airlines had small numbers, but these operated five or more aircraft:[3]
Kalitta Charters (6)
Cargojet Airways (5)
Líneas Aéreas Suramericanas (5)
Serve Air (5)
Total Linhas Aéreas (5)
Also as of July 2016, only Iran Aseman Airlines still operated 3 Boeing 727-200s in passenger service (plus one freighter); all other remaining Boeing 727s in commercial service were used for cargo.[3]

Yup. Hollywood can be a bitch. But I'm glad you gave it your best shot, Shut. I salute you sir, for your service to the truth and for attempting to provide something worthwhile to the world.

Regardless of where the Michael Flynn Russia Investigation ends up, at least it helped solve our mystery... ;0) (see attached photo)

Does anyone have pages 7,8,9, 30 and 31 of the FBI ransom bill number list?

Were those ever released in the FBI docs, have gone through all my FBI docs and can't find those pages. Maybe they were always missing..

Ive watched a lot of Gates programs since this ... Gates wants constant nonstop action and moves on if a segment bogs down. His programs are constantly resetting stages for the next boring 'nothing' which turns up nothing! Thats why I stopped watching his 'Action News Non News Action'.

My current LIKE is a series on the Zodiac Killer where they are trying to break his codes to identify other victims. They are using real (known) experts and some of the latest self learning computer technology. It turns out his code may be based in part on lunar calendar symbols the Navy incorporated into some of their coding systems! Bali Days. All of the known Zodiac murders seem to have occurred on 'Bali Days'. They now have a suspect who spent time in the Navy doing code work! ....... that is a light year away from Gates planet hopping in hip boots with a camera in his hand ...  :D

They are looking for quick easily understood summary results ... if they dont find gold coins in a one minute segment then they move on quickly to the next guy claiming to have discovered gold coins in an elephants ass!.  Dont feel badly! I knew the minute they picked DB Cooper it would be a quick race to some hazy end running to the next gold coin chase. All of Gate's programs are like that. Gate's programs are like the nights weather report - here and gone to the next action news segment, which may be a caterpillar invasion in Morocco!.

I have been watching Zodiac series. I find it very intersting. I watched the movie and they were saying that Arthur Leigh Allan was the killer but they couldn't prove it, and I find it interesting that the investigators are looking at a 2 other suspects. I hope they figure it out.
