It is peculiar that Ingram’s story has seemingly changed over time. It’s certainly not unheard of for people to forget or confuse details, but in Brian’s case, he changes entire narratives and/or remembers other details decades later.

Not saying he’s up to anything nefarious, but it is peculiar, and it affects the perception of him as a good witness.

Maybe he's being coached. But, its EU's narrative - his story - Brian says this and says that . . . now. Maybe nobody really cares today.

Tom is on record about what Brian told him. EU seems to have a special ability to elicit 'new versions' in the Cooper case that flatly conflict with prior known records.

I am very stoked to announce that Brian Ingram and I have negotiated the sale of one of his Cooper twenties. Brian stated that this is the last bill he will sell.

It has a full serial number, Series 1969, from the Dallas Federal Reserve.

It will be viewable at CooperCon.

Congratulations Eric. Hope your Cooper twenty will talk to you about how it ended up at T Bar.

Mine refuses to answer any of my questions.

It did talk to Tom Kaye however. Something about seasonal diatoms.

I spoke with Brian at Geoff Gray’s Portland symposium years ago. His account of the money find then isn’t much different than what he recently told Eric. Different questions were asked which of course elicited different answers. My focus was his interaction with his father immediately prior to the money find. I wondered if his dad have very subtly directed Brian exactly where to dig.

I didn’t ask leading questions. Brian’s narrative answers didn’t shed much light on my particular area of interest.

Then came Hurricane Marla and she took over the room. Marla really missed her calling as a PR person. She got the normally reserved FBI to proclaim LD Cooper their most promising suspect to date. I talked with Marla for quite a while and to this day believe she was sincere about her childhood memories. I don’t, however, think LDC was DBC.

People’s memories are like a Wikipedia page. You can change what and how you remember things, but so can other people. Suggestion and the passage of time are a powerful things when it comes to memory.

Isnt one guy from the cockpit still around?  I know the Captain has passed on with much tragedy not long after the big night. The one Bruce mentioned that kept changing his story?

Captain Scott died of cancer about 25 years after the skyjacking.

2nd Officer Bill Rataczak is still alive, but is in frail health at 95 or so.

3rd Officer Andy Anderson is still alive, but hard to find. Minnow Productions got him in front of a camera for the BBC/HBO show, though, in 2020.

Sorry Bruce but you best get your facts straight ! William Rataczak is NOT 95 or so ! He’s 81 ! I’m not aware that he is presently in frail health either but I’m 80 now myself so perhaps I’m in frail health also in your book ! Do your want to put some money against me in a mile run ? Just saying ..... Lol

81, eh? Okay. I was going on what Himms told me a few years back and I just added the diff.

So, Bill was only 32 when he flew DB Cooper to Mexico City?

As for betting on your racing abilities, you win! I can barely walk to the mailbox. Just came back from the doc talking about that EXACT issue.

William Rataczak was born on June 30, 1939 so yes he’s 81 but will soon be 82. I’m very sorry to hear that you perhaps might be having some walking problems ! Getting older sucks and I was just having fun with you of course ! A really wise friend told me many years ago “ If you can’t give your friend a bad time..... you haven’t become good friends yet “.
Take care my friend !

I will be conducting a two-day dig and search of a very specific spot on Tena Bar this Friday, August 6th and Saturday, August 7th. I'm hoping to find DBC's parachutes and/or attache case. I will be searching with a few volunteers including Bruce Smith.

The search on Saturday, August 7th will be broadcast LIVE via Facebook Live beginning at 10 AM Pacific. This will require joining the "D.B. Cooper : Mystery Group" on Facebook at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login .

REPORT ON THE TENA BAR SEARCH:

After two days of digging we managed to basically dig down through a very difficult layer of rock that was placed upon the beach several years back to stop erosion. We now have a solid idea of the strata layout on this very important part of Tena Bar.

We ended essentially at the top layers of sand of the original beach. The plan now needs to be to dig down another 18 inches into the beach to see what we find. Moreover, the size of the hole we're dealing with is just a few square feet. This needs to be expanded to take in the entire area which is about 300 square feet.

Needless to say this will take some time. In addition, different tools will be needed to make the digging easier. Fortunately, I spoke with Richard Fazio on the way out and he has agreed to let the search continue.

This means that the search will continue shortly. I will review my calendar and see when I can make the journey north to press ahead. I'm targeting sometime within a month.
