Was the money found above where the river levels would have been in spring of 1972?
The money was found at an elevation estimated to be roughly about 10 - 12 feet above sea level. Unfortunately, there is no source of known, at least to my knowledge, or accurate water level data similar to that starting in the mid-1970s and presumably continuing today.
Further, any Vancouver gage reading for the early 1970s is probably going to have to be converted into the present day 1984 vertical datum. But the question is where can we obtain the Vancouver gage readings in the first place?
Does anyone on this thread live in the Portland/Vancouver area and know if those gage readings were routinely given in one of the local papers?
I understand that the Portland paper may have microfilmed their early 1970s issues and that those microfilms may be available in the Portland/Vancouver area libraries. And/or they may be available on the appropriate papers web page.
Can anyone elaborate on the above?
