Are you referring to the Expedition Unknown segment that aired in January 2017?  If so, the Washington state portions of that segment were filmed in August 2016.  At least three posters on this site were also in that segment.  I don't remember anyone named Hall being in the segment or a discussion of the stairs being capable of being deployed from the cockpit.

Eric Ulis, who was not in that segment, has a Facebook page that Josh Gates also belongs to and he has appeared in cable programs with Gates.  Anyone reading this who also belongs to that Facebook page could ask Gates if he knows anything about Halls' claim.

EDIT:
I am not sure if he was actually on the show, I forget the details of the last segment, it sounds like he may have been.  But I guess his theory that the hijacker jumped on the approach to Reno was what was covered at the end of the episode. If you go to this link, this is what seems to indicate, he was more of an off camera consultant:

I have read the Hall article linked above and, as you can probably easily guess, have a number of problems with it.

His discussion of the parachute that Cooper selected is wrong since both backpack parachutes that Cooper had access to on the airliner were surplus military parachutes.  There were no "civilian" parachutes involved and FlyJack and others have explained this in detail over the years.

His description of what is now known as the Western Flight Path is completely wrong.  No one has ever claimed that the airliner flew 20 miles to the west of the Victor 23 airway.  There are other problems with his flight path analysis and why the airliner headed to Reno to refuel.

Hall suggests that Cooper planted the money found at Tena Bar seven years after the hijacking.  I honestly cannot believe such a claim.  After getting away with the hijacking for seven years, why would Cooper bury about $6000 at Tena Bar and which would only later be found by accident?  Dream on!

Josh Gates about to "throw up" before making a tandem parachute jump?  I don't believe that either.  Gates usually included a segment in his Expedition Unknown videos of him dangling from a cliff, sliding on a cable across a deep canyon or some such thing, or doing something underwater that I definitely wouldn't do.  Gates diving skills may have been genetic as I understand that his father, or maybe grandfather, was a professional hard hat diver.  But basically, Gates was/is an adrenaline junkie.

Is the highlighted text true ?  I have not heard this on the forums nor do I recall coming across it in any of the 302s I have read.

I seem to vaguely remember that show. If Hall was the ex military guy that appeared towards the end? I remember him talking about his theory that Cooper jumped near Reno, which is where Josh Gates did his tandem. I remember Gates' demeanor as being 'somewhat hesitant' before the jump, but more elated after, which is a typical response. Perhaps he played that up a bit for drama. Perhaps Hall's discussion of the door controls ended up on the cutting room floor. As for a confusion between civilian and military surplus chutes, maybe that came from Cossey's claims, or that the chutes came from Hayden, a civilian. In those days, many civilian sport jumpers indeed did jump with military surplus gear, as would be many pilot bailout rigs.

It is highly unlikely that that is true. Unless Cooper was a rigger and had rigging tools with him, it would be virtually impossible for him to suitably re-close that container.

I read his book, and tried to get him on the show but he was unresponsive.

His book is more of a "how to solve the case" than it is pointing to a suspect, if I remember correctly.

Thanks, I thought he identifies a suspect in the book ?

I could be wrong, it’s been like two years since I read it. I’ll take a look tonight or tomorrow and let you know for sure.

Not to be rude, but it was one of the books I’ve read on the case that I’ve intentionally not recommend to anyone.

No worries, I am sure it would be out there if he did or if it was compelling--and no disrespect to Mr. Hall whatsoever, I appreciate his service and perspective.

BTW, if you don't mind me asking, and from a humble-fan of your work perspective, have you ever tried to get Dorwin Schreuder on your podcast to discuss Tena Bar and his account thereof, particularly the shards.

Well gosh darn, I was wrong. I flipped through the book again last night, and he does point to a suspest. Aaron James Cantor.

There are a few pics of Aaron in the book (although there are many more of Greg) and he appears a little short and has reddish-blonde hair. 36 years old during Norjack. Says he wore "putty makeup and a toupee" during the skyjacking.

Has anyone ever added up all of the confessions and thus the lies about this case?  At least all minus 1 are lying!!!!  Fact.  Only 1 can be telling the truth and maybe none are. Unbelievable.  I can think of no other case where this has happened.  Its like everyone wants to be DB Cooper.  I wonder if he is even on the list of suspects?   Or is he out there unknown forever.  Because I think now it's a real long shot that he is alive.

Let’s keep this thread and Forum about DB Cooper please.

OK Chaucer.  Sorry to do this but I am going off topic just for a moment since there is not much going on in the Cooper world at the moment.

So do you believe Arthur Leigh Allen is a strong Zodiac suspect?  I have seen some of the research.  I think I would tend to doubt its him?

Put me down SOLIDLY in the corner of Charles Allen Lechmere being Jack The Ripper.  Kosinski is the only other viable suspect but far more holes can be shot in the case for him.   I really believe it was Lechmere.  The guy looks like a monster to boot.

Try to answer the Zodiac question without a scolding about "off topic".  I am a long standing member of some other forums, and I understand the protocol.  But this breaks up a rather boring and desperate search that is now at another standstill.  Referring to DB.  Who was probably a bit more lucky than good. But he was certainly ahead of his time. You cant do anything in this new world of electronics.  But of course if we lose power/electricity, we are back to square one. Gas generators and batteries will get you so far.

I think I am getting a motion trail camera for Xmas.  Anyone here have any thoughts on the best one under $200?  Right now Im leaning Spypoint.  Its for wildlife detection.  Not to find Cooper.  Sure Id rather have a drone, but my son in law just crashed his.

I'm not Chaucer, but I'll take a stab at this. ALA is the McCoy of the Zodiac case. He was strongly investigated, to the point that if he were Zodiac, it would have been closed long ago. Jack the Ripper is too old to solve at this point. These are just my opinions.

I wish there was a complete list of all the people who were ever considered as a suspect for Cooper. But it's my understanding that there isn't, that most of the names are redacted. Am I right about that, or is there a long list of many/most/all of the suspects?

I would agree with this. When someone first becomes interested in the Zodiac case, they almost always begin with the idea that ALA is the killer - primarily because of Graysmith’s books. Spend a little time seriously researching the case, and you realize that he was eliminated as a suspect 25 years ago based upon DNA, fingerprints, handwriting, and witness statements.

But as with many Cooper suspects, people ignore obvious evidence to shill for certain people.

Someone put up a video saying he is certain that the Zodiac was a guy named McDuff.  Many cooincidences mentioned.  He died in 2014
