Lyle Cameron pretty much ran what was then called Lake Elsinore paracenter through out the 60’s and was one of the early pioneers of the sport.

He also worked on the flying/jump crew for the old television show 'Ripcord', and I believe appears on camera a few times as a pilot. His son Lyle Jr. is also a long time jumper, and a super cool guy.

Lyle Cameron('s) family and friends... ...believe he was cia. ...What a cia asset doing calling the feds making a cooper report?

Diverting?

I dunno, but something occurred to me a while back. I'm curious what 377 thinks. I don't normally read all the FBI file releases, but some time ago Andrade linked me to some that concerned Elsinore. They described when the FBI went through all the jumper waivers/registration cards at Elsinore looking for possible Cooper matches. I don't remember what the number of cards were, but it struck me as high, as in a lot more than I would have expected. These days a lot of one-time jumpers show up at drop zones, and that is largely due to the tandem jumps. Tandems require minimal instruction and responsibility for the students, who, good bad or indifferent, regard them as something of a carnival ride. But in those days tandems didn't exist. (Neither did AFF, the modern harness-hold freefall method of instruction for people who want to become active skydivers.) Everybody who showed up to jump, whether it was a one-time thing, or they wanted to get actively involved, had to do the same thing for their first jump. They had to go through an hours-long class, then make a solo static line jump, which made them responsible for everything, including handling a malfunction and landing the parachute. Also, in those days parachuting was considered much more dangerous and a fringe activity to the general public than it is today. So like I said, the number of registration cards struck me as high. And, the Elsinore management 'helped' the FBI 'pare down' the number by 'removing' the cards of 'people they knew', since supposedly nobody knew that guy that showed up to talk to them. Like I said, I dunno, but it made me go 'hmmm'...

377, what say you?

------------

Also, Nicky, I'm back at Elsinore, but just on Saturdays for the time being. Trying to keep my AFF rating from going uncurrent, 'cause that one's a pain in the butt to get recurrent if it goes out. Gonna see how the re-opening goes before I start doing tandems again. There are a lot more tandem students, and it's a lot more direct contact than the AFF.

Earlier today, a doctor on TV pointed out that the southern anti-vax states were hard hit by the virus last summer.  And he predicted that the same would be true this summer.

I don't follow. what vaccine was available last summer. half the country is vaccinated now so how can a dramatic spike occur? what is a anti-vax state and how did they conclude that?

I see now. they are making it political now..who would of guessed..
Arizona named an anti-vax hot spot...source, Arizona State University.

I'm not surprised that Phoenix is on that list (since it has more than its fair share of right-wing lunatics), but I am surprised that Oklahoma City is absent.  Several months back, the Governor of Oklahoma and his wife and their kids were bragging about how they were not wearing masks, social distancing, or doing anything else to avoid the virus.  The Governor was also bragging that his kids had never had even the common childhood vaccinations.  In my humble opinion, if one of his kids catch the flu the Governor should be charged with felony child neglect.

I have a number of relatives in the Fort Worth area and most, if not all, of them have taken the shots.

I just set up a DB Cooper Facebook group. So if you're on Facebook please feel free to join. In fact, I was talking with Shutter about the group a few minutes ago and may have actually succeeded in getting him to log back into Facebook after 3 years.

The Facebook group is called 'D.B. Cooper : Mystery Group'. A link is below.

Cheers!

I was a member of this group for a week before it became clear that it was merely an Eric Ulis Fan Club. If you challenge any of Eric’s opinions you can expect to be insulted. If that’s your sort of thing, have at it. Not my cup of tea.

Don’t know what to say about the FBI and Elsinore Dudeman. Letting the DZ remove cards of jumpers they knew isn’t how I would have conducted the investigation. I’ve been jumping since 1968 and have seen a few incidents when cops visited a DZ looking for someone. It was usually a warrant for failure to appear in a court case or something related to delinquent child support payments. If the person being sought was a regular and well liked the cops didn’t get anywhere. “Don’t know him”. “Haven’t seen him lately”.

Keep those instructor ratings current. I don’t have that problem. Instructing never appealed to me. As a lawyer I saw the risk reward ratio as decidedly unfavorable. That said I admire those who instruct.

Two of my hobbies are skydiving and ham radio. I got into freefall the hard way. Every jump was solo starting with static line jumps. My first ham radio license was Extra Class, the highest level. I did it the easy way, no Morse Code test required.

Learning how to freefall stable was not easy for me. Many spins and out of control tumbles. Now with vertical wind tunnels and AFF it’s easier and safer.

Was Cooper CIA? I doubt it. But who knows?  I do, however, think he knew a bit about parachuting and flying.

So, what caused the oscillations of the stairs, in your opinion? When did they start and end?

Are you saying that the vaccine magnetizes the body as one lady was claiming on TV a few days ago?  Her attempts to demonstrate that didn't work, but that didn't change her thinking.  She knew what she knew!

Chaucer, you will probably be offered a job by the people who are claiming that they are auditing the 2020 election votes in the Phoenix area.  And you are in luck.  Their "home office" is a mailbox at a UPS store in Florida.
They also seem to have moved the votes they are suppose to be counting to a cabin in a remote area of Montana.  It looks like a very competent and upright organization with no funny stuff going on.

What is the problem with the FBI in the DB Cooper case?

I got asked that question today by a reporter doing a story on DBC. Here is my email reply:

"You asked me for the Number One Thing the FBI got wrong with Cooper, or their biggest institutional problem. There is no "one thing." The FBI is simply not well-equipped to solve the DB Cooper case. They don't solve innovative, bold and unique crimes. It's not in their organization structure, nor their cultural DNA, to do so.

"In part it's the dot issue: so many dots, so few analysts to connect them. Every large LE agency has that problem, along with the intelligence services. Besides a lack of "Dot Connectors" they don't have the mid-level supervision to maximize what they do have. Plus, they are crippled psychologically as an organization. The FBI was SHOCKED that Cooper jumped. Most agents expected him to be on the plane even though Tina saw him with a parachute on and the pilots told the Air Traffic Controllers when the plane bounced from his jumping. Still, the FBI didn't REALLY believe them, probably because most agents couldn't imagine themselves doing the jump - it was too dark, too rainy, too cold, too many trees. They forgot that guys make a living skydiving under those very conditions every darn day - commandos and smokejumpers; plus, don't forget the dare-devils and stoned-out hippie parachutists, etc.

"Ever talk to a skydiver who enjoys parachuting naked? Or in the snow? Or only wearing flip-flops. No? Well, nobody in the FBI ever did either. It's called: wearing cultural blinders. The FBI has a societal ignorance of who actually lives in our world.

"Lastly, the FBI has a unique arrogance. Everybody in LE with whom I have raised the question hates the FBI - DEA agents, city cops, Sheriff deputies. It's important to remember the inside joke that FBI agent John Douglas, I believe, famously said: "Inside the FBI we know that we can convict anyone. It's just that the innocent take longer.'"

Well if this crap brings you the noteriety you seek, so be it. Your conceit in the above is obvious.

For your comments to have any value you first have to tell us what the FBI should have done. What should it have investigated that it did not? Its apparent you claim to have evidence and special knowledge/insight the FBI lacked or failed to pursue. ...........  you dont bite off small topics do you!      When is your treatise on the History of the Human Race and how it failed coming out?
