I was working at a bar back in the early 90's..we had a lot of fights but nothing like the one where a guy was shot and killed by an off duty Miami cop. he was a regular there and a heavy drinker. he had no business doing what he did. the guy died right in front of me. I took my shirt off to try and stop the bleeding but it was coming out like a fountain. he was shot just right of his groin hitting his femoral atery. I remember a lady cop running from across the street (donut shop) holding her gun above me shaking like a leaf. lots more to the story but that's about all I will write about it..the article is still online..

Isn't there a Hooter's there now? I have had plenty of wings and beers there before heading south to the stadium for football games. It's about 20 minutes due east of my home.

Is there a Hooter's anywhere now?  I though they went bust and closed down completely.

I honestly wouldn't know. I haven't walked into one in years. Those were in my younger days...

One of these days, when the COVID threat has left us, I hope we can talk Cooper over a couple cold beers, considering that we’re neighbors.  :chr2:

Hooters is alive and well, I see them all the time when I am traveling.

I was in a Hooters in Alabama about a year ago and the girl behind the bar had sleeves on that were covering up her tattoos. She said they made her wear them. I told her that I thought it was kind of silly that they can let her walk around with half of her behind showing in those skimpy shorts, but then are concerned that someone may see the tattoo on her arm. She agreed.

A NORJAK file was opened on Jones aka Rackstraw in 1978, and closed in 1979 when prints and other evidence ruled him out. He was already known to the FBI and law enforcement.  There is a huge file on Rackstraw aka Jones . . .

See: D.B. Cooper Part 40 of 40-364 Rackstraw, D.B. Cooper Part 40 of 40-383 Rackstraw, D.B. Cooper Part 40 of 40-408 ... and other 302s in Part 40.

Suspect related files comprise 80-90% of all FOIA files I have seen so far. All of the major suspects people have posted about are there by name. Rackstraw files start under the name of "Jones" aka Rackstraw, so you have to actually scan each file to pick up the name Rackstraw ... very time consuming.

Pay attention to the location ID's I am giving. EG., See: D.B. Cooper Part 40 of 40-364 Rackstraw, D.B. Cooper Part 40 of 40-383 Rackstraw, D.B. Cooper Part 40 of 40-408 ... and other 302s in Part 40.

There is just no substitute or shortcut for going through the FOIA files one-by-one and scanning/reading each one - otherwise you will miss something that could be important. Its very time consuming ...

Phone calls searched and traced - - -

Im going to add a footnote here. Phone records for virtually every place there was a public phone in the DZ area including public phones at Portland, were searched for the dates surrounding the hijacking, and nothing turned up as noteworthy - no connections to any suspect or the NORJAK were found. This was a massive undertaking but the FBI (and other LE) tried to cover that option. Many 302s document that effort.

The original thought was that Cooper might have used a public phone in the DZ area to 'call home'. Nothing that linked up with NORJAK was found ...
