It's not a big deal. just give me a heads up next time..no biggie..
I don't know much about Discord, but it looks to be like a breakout room from the actual DB Cooper Reddit page, a page within a page. I may be off, but from what I've seen so far it takes the 800 or so people on DB Cooper Reddit, and invites the main people who have a legit interest in the case and some good knowledge (I think I saw Nicky's name and Chaucer and the new young guy Dan that Darren had on his podcast). So, if it continues and does well, it may simply be a supplement to this board (same guys on Discord that are on here, but with a little more flexibility in what they can say). It may allow us to add some new younger folks (most of us are over 40, which is old in the digital age).
Reddit attracts all types, and the DB Cooper Reddit can get some clowns here and there (they get banned pretty quickly), but what it does do is open up the case to a larger audience, and allow some newcomers who are not ready for prime time (Shutter's board) to ask some questions.
Without sounding facetious, I see the DB Cooper Reddit as the Junior Varsity version of this board. Shutter's board is still in my mind the best place for true DB Cooper researchers/investigators, and Shutter has kept out the lower end folks who just have a passing interest.
Bottom line for me is that most publicity for the case is good publicity. The Rackstraw stuff as jumped the shark as far as I'm concerned, and is now a distraction though.
Jury is still out on Discord and Reddit, but I think we might be able to recruit some new blood off of there.
