Article on an open source website called GEDMatch that was used by law enforcement to track down the Golden State Killer and others.  People are willingly uploading their 23andMe DNA profiles to this site in hopes of helping out with cold cases.  Lots of privacy concerns here, but if enough people do it, and the FBI checks their DNA profiles, then it could end up with a match to a family member.

I did this for my own DNA...  best to do so on the Genesis version of Gedmatch.
Turns out I'm related to Alexander Hamilton, albeit distant...for we share the same paternal haplogroup I-M253.... and coincidentally enough, my youngest child has had the most bizarre fascination with Hamilton since she was young, though I attribute it to that play on Broadway...had to take her to take photos both to his grave at Trinity Cemetery, and also to his house in Morningside Heights, and this was all before we even found out the DNA link

I'm not sure what happened at Bruce's house while he was away but I thinks it's best to keep the conversation off the forum since both parties disagree as it will only cause more comments and anger to occur..I wasn't there and am not taking either side to what actually happened..it's best to resolve the issue offline...

I have come to realize that a lot of people here and elsewhere in Cooper World were deeply concerned about welfare last month. I am touched. Thank you to all concerned. Especially EU, who called the cops, who came to my home on a welfare check and talked to the folks who live with me.

Not really Cooper related, although Coop does get a mention in the article. Interesting story just the same.

On this Zodiac killer website that I lurk at there has been a discussion about him. Something of interest when he died he had $82,000 in the bank. Police are wondering about that much money in the bank and if there was criminal activities to get it.

I think DNA remains one of the only real means of solving the Cooper caper. The other could be that Cooper himself could still be alive and upon his death, he could still have a $20 ! My Mom lived to be 98 as did my wife’s Mother.

I just re-listened this old interview with FBI agent Larry Carr, he explains the DNA, partial and familial at 17:40 of audio..  "DNA can only exclude... DNA too weak for familial DNA matching... Small sample"

I’ll stick with my original statement ! DNA is one of the only ways to solve the Cooper caper ! I didn’t say anything about whether it would lead to a conviction ! That’s about a 200/1shot !  JMHO
