Maybe I should ask you what he told him, since wasn't it you who said that you were wondering why Himmelsbach gave him false info?  Is was you, right?   I caught on to the game you're playing.  The message has been deleted.

I am aware that you are the moderator and am aware you can boot whoever you like.   If you expect me to be very thick-skinned with the deliberate snark and rhetorical questions coming my way, then I expect the same.  Maybe you can find who said this, because somehow, I cannot. Thank you Vicki, but no.  It was maybe a week ago, and now it is apparently gone.  It made reference to Himmelsbach misleading Gunther on purpose, and was at the tail end of the message.

I don't have to do nothing. you accused me of something you obviously have no idea who made the comment. it's out of line. you are making claims that the case is basically closed due to evidence in that book. you have to expect to be called out on things, so if you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen, and stop blaming others.

According to Gunther, he contacted the FBI about the letter in the summer of 1972. The FBI agent suggested that they treated situations involving someone contacting a member of the media a hoax until proven otherwise.

So, the book was published, and Gunther tried to "prove otherwise" the FBI didn't appear to pay much attention to the book...

Gunther doesn't go into a great deal of detail, he only says that Himmelsbach wanted "positive proof" (something like one of the 20's, or even just a name). He also says the FBI took extensive notes on the story. And, sorry in advance for this, but in Into the B----, Himmelsbach is quoted saying he didn't like Gunther. So it's possible Gunther was seen as a sleazeball reporter trying to make a quick buck. I dunno... I'd love to see the FBI files on the interaction.

I think was there in that thread at one point but maybe as a response by another quoting it... at the tail end, it said akin to Himmelsbach fed Gunther false info, and the curiosity of it.  This ironically made ME curious as to why.  I am not imagining it. I was reading it from my android phone and sometimes its hard to ascertain who wrote it.    The search feature isn't listing all the times its being used.

That may be true. It is sometimes confusing reading the cascading quotes on who wrote what, reading from a phone. Yet I can attest that I have felt many times I was being patronized with by your responses to mine.

I've mentioned this before as well. when you make claims of the case being solved, you will get called to the table. you have also made snarky comments, so it goes both ways. I do understand that you believe what is in that book, but it appears a majority of people don't. you are in a tough position. this is why I don't favor suspects, they end up causing more problems with the bickering, then the blaming begins, not wanting to solve the case etc. etc. almost all of you guys with suspects show this pattern.

I have a lot of respect for Andrade. he believes the book has some things of value. I don't have a problem what so ever with that, but it's ridiculous to twist everything in order to make things fit. this is why you will get called to the table. finding Clara is the key to the book. no Clara, no proof...

I have not twisted things to make fit...  I also share the belief that the book has some things of value, and should be looked at much closer, just as he does.

Ok, you suggest things more than twist....the shoe thing didn't work, so you went to the bag...the chute didn't work, and it's misinformation from the FBI. I would still like to read what they told him, if it's not in the book, where did it come from? Clara, not the FBI said the chute was bright red and yellow..we seem to have to change a lot of the evidence to make things fit. lots of people would have to be involved in hiding, or misrepresenting evidence such as the shoes, and the chutes. then you have the pilot wondering into the back of the plane? a bomb made from tin cans? do we throw everything away, where is the line drawn?

No matter how much someone wants to put DB Cooper's height at 5'8" will never change the fact he was reported to be 6'. You can certainly say it's so but you have to have articulable fact to support the dismissal of the witnesses credibility. But if you discredit the witness on one piece of her statement you may have to discredit all, you can't have it both ways.
