resolution and size of an image or two different things. Yes I can compress the image down, but I lose detail. If any of the words are hard to read due to prior copying, you don't want to lose resolution, in general (# of pixels/amount of compression if jpg).  Poor images can always be made big, but bigger doesn't always help.

Here is the case report filed by the Kings County Sheriff Dept on 11_24_71

On page 2, it has the most detailed timeline/accounting of what happened with 305 on the ground in Seattle, with good detail on the fuel trucks and the timing of each. Apparently there were 5 fuel trucks altogether. 4 used. One had problems

Two stewardesses actually entered cab of a fuel truck

Lower resolution than source to meet posting requirements.

I find it remarkable that the description of the reserves is devoid of any indication that either of the reserves bore a "red X" thereby denoting it as a training chute. This coupled with the fact that no one, not even Linn Emrich, noticed that one of the reserves was a dummy reserve causes me to question whether there were any marks or indications that the dummy reserve was inoperable.
Some men see things as they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?

Here is a more detailed description of the two chest containers: (the back rigs are also described in the attachment this comes from)

TWO FRONT. CHEST CHUTES. TWENTYFOUR FEET IN DIAMETER, ALL WHITE NYLON,
MODEL T-SEVEN A, WHITE SHROUDS, ABOUT FOURTEEN FEET LONG

NUMBER ONE CONTAINER HAS QUOTE <redacted> ENQUOTE WRITTEN ON IT, AND IS ABOUT TEN BY THIRTEEN INCHES, OLIVE DRAB.

NUMBER TWO CONTAINER HAS <redacted> WRITTEN ON A WHITE PATCH WHICH IS SEWN TO CONTAINER.

In photos you can see the not-taken chest container has a white patch with some writing on it. The writing on the white patch is described in another memo and matches the photos.
I believe that is the NUMBER TWO CONTAINER above.

The NUMBER ONE CONTAINER was described has having something <redacted> written on it. Not sure if it was a red X or what

From the evidence report that was filed in Reno on the stuff found on the plane, there is a description of a white tag.
That is container two above, I believe.

On the floor directly in front of seat number 18D, the exterior canvas cover for a chest-type parachute was observed along with the handle  utilized for releasing this parachute.

The label on this canvas covering indicated it to be Pack Part Number 4511876B and indicated the date of manufacture to have been October, (year illegible).

The flap on this canvas exterior contained a sewn on white label with the notation SSS # 5 and COSS. This flap had also been stenciled with the name JOHNSON.

Oh nice Shutter.
I didn't know Norm D. was written on the taken chest pack.
That is odd they didn't make a note about some Red X in that memo.

I've not found any memo talking about a red x.

That Norm D memo talking about the back rig, is saying the harness was "luxury" civilian type, while the backpack was NB6
that doesn't make sense to me.

in another memo, they describe the not-taken back rig as luxury civilian (it wasn't).

Did they mix up their description of the used NB-6?

That memo went to a lab? Where they checking a found parachute?

yeah I realize that.
I'm just pointing out that I think their description of the NB-6 is wrong.

I'm getting confused reading these parachute memos. They talk about the two back chutes being both military olive drab, correct? How can that be?

The redactions and loss of names of who did what is maddening. I wonder if GG has these docs, as nothing he has presented to us so far has anything redacted.

Plus, the ownership issues seems already muddled by 11. 25. 71, with talk of good ol' "Boeing Flight Services" being involved. That sounds like Cossey. Whereas Pacific Aviation is also mentioned, which is the Norm Hayden / Barry Halstad narrative.

Any thoughts, Snow? Anyone?

Keep track of 'who" is writing these memos. Did "who" or "whom" have all the facts in the first place ... before sending off a memo?

The source in this case is SA Chipman at Seattle. He supposedly did an investigation. The date is Nov 25 71! Thats a quick investigation ??  Or preliminary investigation as the case may be ...

Here is what the memo states

1) Back #1 is civilian luxury type 26 feet in diameter, white military chute inside...tan soft material outside.
2) back #2 is military nylon type olive drab outside..28 foot canopy...

Didn't Hayden state both chutes were the same?

The red x seems to have only been known by a few...Linn Emerick didn't know what the X meant, nor did his daughter in the video explain what color the X was...

discussion about the chutes start at around 3:35
