A plot plan which is used to identify things for permitting. measurements are taken and recorded as well as the surroundings..they place the property line with a fence that can be seen on maps which they put at 71.7" you run that line out to the waterline and puts the property about 20 feet away from Fazio's property..the square structure close to the money location is labeled a "manufactured home" with a awning surrounding it 71' x 64'

Eric, isn't that about what Fazio claimed?

I not certain I understand everything written here. Nonetheless, the money find spot is about 20 feet from the property line. In fact, there is a gate on the old gravel road at the property line which is still in place. So, it is very easy to compare the property line with the money find spot.

In other words, the money was found on the Fazio's property about 20 feet from the property line with the neighbor to the north.

I have what is called a "plot plan" you submit this with any permit you are trying to get. it shows a basic layout of the property, including property lines. they place the property line where you see a fence where the old angled road would be. you follow that out to the water and it puts the property about 20 feet from Fazio...

A plot plan aids the inspector to where he is on any given property..he will be able to identify things once he arrives and starts looking around. brings him up to speed..

What do you mean from Fazio? Do you mean 20 feet from the money find spot?

Also, the property line at that point--from Lower River Road to the Columbia River--does not run exactly east to west. Rather, heading along the property line from Lower River Road to the Columbia you are heading primarily west, but also slightly north.

Yes, when a run a line from the corner of the fence out to the water, I can measure down to approx. the money find..it measures about 20 feet..the drawing shows a straight line fence but it's clearly angled on the map..the fence is close to the structure by the money location...big square "manufactured home" with a awning around it..

Ok here is another pic where we have the horizontal shoreline as a reference. I rotated the pic to make the shore horizontal, then had to estimate the waters edge through the people. Again using the guy as a reference I have a hard time placing the money more than 6' above that days water level. We should be able to look up the water level for that week right?

Also I also agree with EU about the grass level. It should be used as a 2nd intersecting line of evidence to sort this out.

I'm not sure the guy in white you've referenced is actually at the money find spot. It may actually be near the small group, including another guy in white, that are behind the guy in jeans bending over and the person with bare calves showing.

I found a level a couple weeks ago but most have trouble believing it...the record shows like 8 feet?

In comparing the 1980 water and other levels at Tina Bar, the Vancouver gage (which is located a few hundred feet of I-5 and on the Vancouver side of the Columbia River) readings will probably need to be corrected to present day values due to a change in the vertical datum about 1988 or so.

That is, make sure you are using the appropriate datum, with corrections if necessary, when comparing water levels.  The Tina Bar water level will be about 6 inches lower than the Vancouver gage reading.  But the changes in datums should not be more than 1 or 2 feet.
