I had an epiphany about RMB last night. I am not going to allow him or his presence to determine where I go or what I do. Hence, I will be at CooperCon 2019 if invited regardless of who else might be there.

Got a question for you changing the topic!

Is there anything in Tosaw's book about his brother Mike Tosaw playing football with one Nile Kinnick - where? if it happened at all? Any mention in Tosaw's book of he or his brother Mike playing football?

He mentions football in his intro, about going to college and playing, but I don't remember anything about a brother.  I'll check.  It is a very short book, but good.

I think it is important to address a few things here with respect to the 2019 CooperCon.

In fact, I have discussed hosting the 2019 CooperCon at the popular facilities owned and operated by Jim Brunberg in Portland. Moreover, Jim has made me an offer that would be foolish to pass up--although, nothing has been finalized.

Jim and I have discussed the angst that exists between certain parties in the Cooper Vortex. Neither one of us has any patience for it or has any interest in dealing with it. It's really as simple as that.

Jim and I agree that the paramount objective must be to organize a DB Cooper event that is worthy of the legend. This means crafting a 2019 CooperCon that is at once educational and entertaining. Furthermore, that CooperCon is an event that is worthy of the city of Portland and the city of Vancouver.

To that end, as the founder and organizer of CooperCon, I am committed to creating a spectacular 2019 CooperCon. My hope and expectation is to have an event this year that brings in north of 500 people. In order to successfully accomplish this task I am going to use my better judgement and the sage guidance of a few others to build CooperCon from the ground up utilizing my experience from last November as a firm foundation.

I welcome all constructive input. To that end, I may be contacted via email at eric (at) thecoopercase (dot) com.

Cheers!

EU: "as the founder and organizer of CooperCon" ---Can you be any more condescending and self-promoting?  Isn't this just an extension of past conferences?  For someone who just came on the scene in June, you've spent a lot of energy trying to get your name in the papers.  You've solved the case (Sheridan), found the real spot of the money find, and are now running for Mayor of Cooperland.

I'm all for a conference, but it seems every time I read about a conference, I see your name attached to it and in most cases Sheridan Peterson.  Is this about the case and the man who parachuted out of a plane, or is it about you?  Do you think we will see any articles about the conference that don't have your name and/or Sheridan's attached to them?  I guess any publicity for the case is good, but some seem to forget that it was not them who lept from that 727.

I will also go back and read some of the newspaper articles of the time (90s) but I know for a fact neither Richard Tosaw or his brother Mike Tosaw played at UI. The Tosaws moved to Minnesota for a time, in the 30s. That may have been where Mike Tosaw played football with Nile Kinnick - in high school.

Ah, Shut, don't give up on us so fast. I think it could be a really good time. Maybe you could take us all on a sim flight of 305!

Yeah Dave..there sure was.  Read the article...the need to have the rear stairs..the same one Cooper jumped from, kept the 737 low to ground in it's future design... Which cascaded to other unsavory designs on the Max

1) wrong category
2) stairs do not extend from the aft position.
3) stair system completely different to a 727

similar stairs would be on a DC9 or Yak 42...

Shutter I do hope you will reconsider and attend the 2019 event. The hours spent in a brewpub with Vortex characters the night before the conference was priceless. No fights, no tense arguments, just warm camaraderie and interesting discussions. The same thing happened at the first Cooper Symposium in Portland. Get a few brews in the Vortex dwellers and things mellow out quite nicely.

One interesting sidelight is that the brewpub gathering drew some people who had their own Cooper stories and wanted to run them by people who knew more than they did about the case. One woman had seen a parachute canopy (wrong color for DBC) while playing near a homeless encampment. Another wondered if a pilot friend was DB Cooper.

Give it some additional thought before you rule it out. I'll bet you'd really enjoy it and you also have a lot to offer.

Ditto, Shut.

The conversations were so good, and the Brewskis so delicious, that I even had to shut up for a while and listen!

I too am looking forward to CooperCon 2019. As a local business owner with a DB Cooper Escape Room, I've been privy to the ongoing email saga of Blevins as he's been emailing me consistently. I'm in communication with all the local businesses who are interested in participating with this event and we are all on the same page when it comes to Blevins. I have full confidence that the 2019 Conference will be a fun and professional experience. EU is doing good things!
