Members of McCoy's family started saying he was Cooper years ago, but have never provided any falsifiable details or answered any questions about how they know he was Cooper. It would be nice if one of them was willing to answer some questions about this. Dan provides basically nothing that hasn't been theorized for years (Cooper jumping near the Columbia, Losing the money). No evidence was provided that McCoy was Cooper, and we're left with almost nothing more than a grand conspiracy theory that includes the Vortex being some kind of misinformation machine for the FBI.

Well the story is kind of tragic right. I mean your father got shot by FBI. Your mother was involved in the crime.
You're supposed to be Morman and all that entails.

Why would anyone listen to anything they say? The idea that they are driven primarily by some factual search for the truth?
Unlikely.

Register or LoginWhat if Gryder has indeed solved this?  Why would McCoys daughter lie?  At this stage?   Gryder is correct that this case is never going to be solved forensically.  It does seem incredible they simply lost those cigarettes, even though in the 70s they had no clue about DNA.  But to shoot down McCoy being Cooper simply on the word of the FBI saying where he was is just ridiculous.  Mr Gryder has put together a very compelling argument.  The money being dropped makes sense.  Pretty much everything in this episode makes sense.

DB Fan: We can assume that there is only one DB Cooper.  Therefore given all the suspects and confessions and family alibis, someone is lying.  Or, people are confused or remember things differently.  So why is McCoy's family any more trustworthy than the other families?

My observations here revolve around the totality of evidence/information, or whatever we want to call it.  I don't know of a single suspect that is ruled out simply over one piece of evidence.  There seems to be this belief out there that McCoy was only ruled out due to the alibi, and therefore if the alibi is proven wrong, then he is DB Cooper.  Do people really think that the FBI ruled him out just because he had an alibi?  I know most of us on this forum could list a number of reasons that McCoy is not Cooper.  Even if you disprove his alibi and showed that he worked in a titanium factory, that still does not make him close to being Cooper.  I think it was 377 who said something like "ability does not mean culpability." McCoy is a very interesting guy, but clearly is not Cooper.

Someone is lying all right. There are so many lies in this case you cant count.  So many false confessions and nut cases.  I am not going to write McCoy off though.  No way

McCoy, with his military pilot background, was acutely aware of small 243.0 MHz emergency radio beacons (pingers) that could be packed into a rig. He even tossed one beacon equipped rig out long before he jumped which confused the chasers. Cooper seemed to be totally unaware of this particular risk. McCoy was so aware of this implanted pinger beacon risk that he brought his own rig to jump. Sound like the same person? Not to me. Also I’m curious how McCoy knew Perry Stevens, the Oakland CA based rigger, who he demanded the FBI procure parachutes from. Perry taught me how to skydive. He was well known in skydiving and acrobatic flying circles since he performed FAA mandated periodic inspections and repacks. By mentioning his name, McCoy revealed a lot. It connected him with sport parachuting. Can I completely rule out McCoy as Cooper? No. But I sure have doubts.

DBfan57:
The FBI files has just put up a new video on the topic of Cooper.  I am apparently the first viewer.  It is starting with McCoys hijacking of $500,000.  The Denver to LA flight, ?  But it starts on the East coast with a prisoner aboard as they cover it.  The FBI Files is a great show.  NO nonsense
