Now you're getting it, 377! Whew - It took a while, but it sounds like you're coming around! Don't forget the reverse-engineered spacecraft used....

That's why I like Bruce so much even though we disagree on all the paranormal stuff. He is unfailingly civil with me regardless of our differences of opinion and he keeps his warm sense of humor.

And Bruce is one of the few here who actually gets outside and investigates. I must confess I am mostly a keyboard sleuth. I did travel to Illinois to jump from a jet airliner but it would be a stretch to call that investigative. It was more in the thrill-seeking category.

Hats off to Bruce.

I have added new pictures of my bank bag with $200K of ransom inside to my page discussing the bank bag. These pictures clearly illustrate my assertions that Cooper had to remove some of the packets of twenties from the bank bag before he could secure it because it was too full. The images can be found at the following link:

Somewhere I remember someone purchasing a SeaFirst bank bag that would have been what Cooper received the ransom in.

Anyone remember who that was?

Yes, that was 377. However, the bag was way too small to handle the ransom. I believe the Size H bag was used.

Keep in mind that the 100 feet or so of shroud lines missing from the reserve chute left on the airliner was probably used to fashion a "harness" for the money bag.  The bag would not be tied at just the open end.

I should have taken some pictures of the money bag tied up...that was done too...even crafted a handle like DBC.

My impressions/thoughts after securing the ransom was complete--putting myself in DBC's shoes preparing to jump--we're:

1) I hope that a seam in the bank bag doesn't split because the money is quite heavy.

2) Stacking the money in the bank bag it struck me as preferable to have a relatively flat profile so I could secure it to my person reasonably well. A clump or ball would have been much more problematic unless I opted to let the ransom hang below my body as I descended under canopy.

3) The bank bag sticks out like a sore thumb once on the ground and walking. There is no doubt in my mind that DBC would want to avoid being seen with this large white bank bag. Moreover, that he would temporarily hide the bank bag before entering civilization to procure a car or whatever was required for him to evacuate the area with the money.

McCoy and Heady stashed their cash, we don't know what Hahneman did since he jumped into a jungle, and the other guy lost his money in the jump... so I think it's fair to say that Cooper, had he survived, would have cached his ransom.

True.  Remembering my days as a Boy Scout, we spent a lot of time practicing the knots in the Scout manual and also being tested on our ability to tie those knots.

I think that's a very reasonable assumption. All of that said, it makes the three Tena Bar packets all the more intriguing.

Sounds like DB Cooper was a neat person, lots of personal hygiene. Well organised - straight out of the USDHEW Dictionary of Occupational Titles. Fully predictable with Scout training in knots and ties, and he liked his money in "packets" with paper straps neatly marked with the bank of origin. That makes sense on Wala-Wala Ontario!

Was even a janitor in an American High School! Very well organasized.

Maybe he passed the classes in knotting at Julliard, MIT, and Harvard.

Like Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting or the other guy in A Beautiful Mind ?  We should obviously be looking for Cooper in Nobel Prize winners who attended knotting classes at Julliard, MIT, and Harvard, who wear only long shorts - no short briefs for this guy! An upper class crustacean with a penchant for OCD and blonds?

Maybe DB Cooper was Robert Oppenheimer? He had knotting classes at a Boy's Scout camp in New Mexico. Tying knots and personal neatness go hand-in-had with atomic bomb building and hijacking.

But getting away from OCD for a moment, is there anything new on the DB Cooper case? Any NEW stereotypes?  Some actual new information/facts not based on kid's classes in knot typing you think deserve posting in the Tina Bar Money thread, of all places!? Any news of Whopper and Big Mac sales today?
