Suspect Number 1 in my book is Sheridan L Peterson who lived at my house for a month and it was ten years before Norjak. I am very sure that he did the job as he was planning the caper when at my place. He wanted to know all I knew as a Boeing Engineer about the 727 and if the aft airstairs could be deployed in the air. I told him he could find out all about the 727 by getting a job a Boeing in the Manuals and Handbooks Group, which he did. While working at the Boeing Company he staarted the Boeing Skydiving Club which did jumps out of the Issaquah Sky Sports DZ. He had to have known Earl Cossey who worked there as the Rigger. Did he enlist him as a partner in the Norjak caper as the ground man and launderer of the loot?

Sheridan's qualifications:
1) right age and had been a Smoke Jumper for three years
2) Olive complextion and looks just like the FBI sketch
3) 6 ft tall and many skydiving experiences
4) Photographed for an advertizement in the Boeing News (May 1962) wearing the same cloths and shoes as DB Cooper did in 1972.
5) He made Boeing event jump wearing the same cloths and carrying a 50 lb bag of flower (to make smoke trails) between his legs.
6) Calm composure and a good talker
7) Obtained his Instructor Certification at Issaquah Sky Sports
8) He was a Marine Machine Gunner during WWII having joined at 16 in 1941
9) He was visited twice by the FBI and they took his DNA and fingerprints

so far so good, but then....

eye color = blue
had a serious case of receding hairline (aka ale pattern baldness ;) going on at the time
Claims he can prove he was in living in Nepal at the time and that children were born there.
Since he 's not been arrested for the caper, maybe the prints and DNA didn't match?

Just looking at qualifications Sheridan Peterson would make a great candidate, but you can't list his qualifications without also listing the stuff that you have to explain away by  things like colored contacts, wigs, surreptitious flights back into the US, and the FBI screwed up so they have no prints/dna to compare against.
Just saying there might be reasonable explanations or ways to exclude the items I listed, but on the face of it they do impinge on his qualifications.

During the recent WSHM events, Bill Mitchell remarked that of the suspect photos he was shown
post 11-24, a large number were from the Eugene area. This may relate to the 'Eugene Incident'
which happened in Eugene airspace the weekend before 11-24, as related to me by controllers
and others involved in the Cooper case.

During the evening of Nov 20th, 1971, the weekend before the Cooper hijacking at Portland, the
control tower and local law enforcement at Eugene began to get calls about someone dropping
flares from a small airplane, then flying in patterns indicative of tracking the flare's drift and
descent. Attempts to communicate with or track and identify the aircraft failed. Approximately 90
minutes later an unidentified small aircraft appeared on Eugene radar again, and more reports of
the flare dropping activity began to come in, to the Eugene airport and to local law enforcement,
in a different area outside Eugene. Officials directly involved that night say that an FAA report was
filed, and the FBI notified.

This incident gained further attention the night of the Cooper hijacking, and was openly discussed
by ATC and FBI officials after #305  had safely passed through Portland - Eugene airspace and the
investigation began to take form and commence. Mucklow had described the bomb as consisting
of red sticks ... and Himmelsbach believed 'red sticks' indicated road flares, not actual dynamite.
Those recalling the flare dropping at Eugene just a few days earlier, wondered if there could be a connection ?

Then the Janet report at Vancouver surfaced! Janet contacted the FBI in the days following the
Cooper hijacking, with another 'flare/fire' dropping report. Janet claims that FBI agents visited her
home and asked her to 'keep quiet' about her report, except that at least two others surfaced at
Vancouver with similar 'fire' (dropping) reports, almost immediately after the hijacking. (Janet
and/or her husband may be the origin of all of the reports made at Vancouver - this has never
been clarified).

So, when Bill Mitchell says he was shown a large number of photos of 'suspects' from the Eugene
area (and was told these suspects were from the Eugene area), the Eugene flare dropping
incident may be the 'link' the FBI was trying to explore, in the hope of finding Mr. Cooper.

Perhaps Cooper was practicing for the hijacking in the Eugene area prior to the hijacking, or he
knew someone and was in league with someone who had a light plane in the Eugene area, ...
but of the suspects Bill Mitchell was shown it would be interesting to see how their genetic
profiles compare with the 'partial' the FBI apparently has.

Geoff Gray says nothing about the Eugene incident in his book. Apparently he didn't run across
the files? Himmelsbach doesn't mention the incident in his book either.

Maybe the Eugene incident and the Cooper hijacking are not related at all.

I don't think so, Georger.   In fact, I don't believe a bit of that nutty "Janet story."  Just more crap invented.  The FBI doesn't go around intimidating young housewives.  That's not what they do.  Hey wasn't there some guy who was supposed to be in contact with William Mitchell?  What happened with that?  Didn't Mitchell want to talk with him?   There is a lot of fraud associated with the Cooper case.  From what I hear most of it comes from the same fellow.   And I heard you did a good job of exposing him, and he's permanently barred from all the good sites.   I guess over time, everyone can sniff out an old fraud.  What a title to bare.

This sir, is a piss poor job at imitating Ed Sullivan. I ran your statement through a language
processor (see below) looking for anything a human would recognise as Human thought forms
and guess what: the closest thing I can come up with are the words of "Topo Gigio", the almost
exact same words Topo uttered on October 10, 1965, on the Ed Sullivan Show! I will leave it for the Moderator to judge - COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST YOU SIR!  Please stick to the topic.
stop free ranging, and get your FACTS straight!  I guess over time, everyone can sniff out an old fraud.  What a title to bare, indeed. I fire your own words straight back at you, imposter!

Don't give me any shit, Georger.  Just cause you're a college professor, doesn't give you carte' blanc to file complaints at random.  I'm filing a counter complaint to Shutter and asking him to put you on suspension.   Who's handing out the bad drugs over at the DZ?   Hello Mudda, Hello Faddah..........................

***WARNING***
.
.
Ok, time out, flag, off sides, illegal motion. let's stop right here guys. I will not tolerate any attacks here. let's keep on the Cooper subject and not insult anyone if the facts are not correct. if something is wrong with things presented. please explain the reason without insults.

Next, lets try keeping the DZ out of the picture on this forum. I will not allow the same thing to happen here. you guys need to get along. I'm trying to make this forum a place to discuss Cooper. lets keep it that way. I'm going to say this nice one time. I'm not going to take sides in this issue, nor will I tolerate it. we have come a long way, I don't want things getting out of hand. you guys might want to take note that there is a "ignore list" function on this forum. you might want to consider that use in the future if you can't get along!

I need positive attitudes here people. I don't expect to wake up to this type of problem in the future. I expect you guys will respect me, as well as what I'm trying to achieve for us all to enjoy!

Thanks.

Ok, sorry Shutter.  I'll mind my manners and watch my language.  Sorry Georger, well......sorta.  On another note:  my 4th grade grand-daughter came home last week with a copy of "Into the Blast, the TRUE story of D.B. Cooper."  She really liked it and apparently the teacher is using the book for reading outloud.   But my 4th grader couldn't understand a few things about the book;
1.  If DBC used a square chute in 71 and jumped under blue skies during the day (book cover) why couldn't the FBI find him?  And the other picture shows Cooper landing at day on a prairie.   (back cover).
2.  If Captain Scott went back to 18E to meet and have a conversation with DBC, wouldn't Scott have been the "best" eyewitness?  (page 27).
3.  If DBC landed near the Lewis River near Paradise Point State Park, why would he bury the money upstream of the LR drainage into the Columbia River?  (page 37, 39).
4.  Could DBC really see the street signs at the intersection of NW 389th St. and NW 3rd Ave late at night?  Our teacher says those streets didn't have signs in 1971.  (page 36).
5.   The book says that, "Mr. Porteous is widely quoted in various news media."   But why has Mr. Porteous been unquoted "anywhere" since his book came out?  Is Mr. Porteous still in hiding?
  (page 143).

Anyway, 4th graders are pretty sharp and ask good questions.  They can't wait for the sequel(s), or the revised versions.

You say:

Claims he can prove he was in living in Nepal at the time and that children were born there.

Just saying there might be reasonable explanations or ways to exclude the items I listed, but on the face of it they do impinge on his qualifications"

I say:   DB Cooper spent time showing off his eye color to two Flight Attendants and close up before putting on the Sun Glasses for the remainder of his flight. Everything he did was for a reason as he really had planned his caper for a long time. I believe he had cosmetic brown contact lens to made his eyes look brown to the Flight Attendants and cover his true color of blue. Simple disguise to fool the FBI using the brown colored contacts.
Sheridan did not have a problem with hair baldness as can be seen in his photo from the Boeing News paper advertizing the new Boeing Skydiving Club. In fact, his photo matches the FBI blown-up sketch on the wall at the Tacoma Museum DB Cooper display. That was noticed by Meyer Louis while we were all there for the show. Partial receding of the hair line as in the FBI sketch. Sheridan's qualifications make him a standout suspect and probably #1 at least in my book. His alibi that he was in Nepal doesn't mean much as a two day trip or less puts him in Portland (Nepal to Bangkok to Portland or Seattle - two flights). Did he have someone else present at the birth of one of his children in Nepal to complete the "Perfect Alibi"? The question of finger prints that the FBI could get from the plane have been in question as DB could have covered his fingers prints with airplane cement so none would be left. DNA on tie clasp could have been from his female partner that helped him get dressed.

HOWEVER - This needs to be done!
The DNA from under the stamps/envelope flaps of the four letters sent to the newspapers following Norjak is still waiting for the FBI to look at and compare with what they have from Sheridan taken by the two female FBI agents. A match places him at the scene of the crime in Portland and blows away his Perfect Alibi of being in Nepal.

Hey Georger:

4th grade teach decided to ditch the book, Blast, and send all of them into the trash.  The kiddies spotted too many factual errors, too many made-up fables, and an author that kept repeating only one piece of alleged witness accounting that formed the basis for the entire book.  Smart bunch, those 4th graders.  They decided to go back to "cat in the hat" series which offers better information.
snoop.
