with all of the great things happening on here got me thinking about my Father. most of you know I lost him last November. He was a great man. like most younger guys, he joined the Navy. He served aboard the USS Randolph, an aircraft carrier. he was part of the Mercury project, and was involved with the Cuban Missile Crisis. he loved that ship. frankly, he wouldn't shut up about it, but I loved hearing the stories, even if I already knew them  8) not long after the Navy, he started working in the soda business. he did that for almost 30 years.

oops, I wasn't done lol

I made a short video dedicated to my Father I thought I would share with you guys.

Very touching tribute to your father, Shutter.  Thanks for sharing something so dear and close to your soul.... Meyer

Shutter,

I have been canvasing the new site, and I have to say it's amazing.  In just one week, there has been more real information exchanged about the case than I've seen in a long time.  I like the categories and freedom to roam about.  It's different, it's a work in progress, but already it's a breath of fresh air.  It was so good to hear from Brian and to get to finally talk to Galen.  Great job Shutter, thanks for all your effort to make this possible for us.  Meyer

I just looked at the stats. I'm seeing 1031 views counting all categories. 176 posts. this has been done in just a few days. I believe I started it Feb. 24, 2014. WOW, amazing job people. two shutters up says Dave Brown lol.

Let's show'em how it's done!!

my screen shot is a little over sized. there is a slide bar under the pic for left & right.. :D

Thanks Meyer, this gives us the freedom to mold it to our specs. I'm open for any changes made. different themes, or templates of the forum can be changed. categories as well. I like the control because we can say it's our forum. several have already PM'd me about possible improvements. smokin99 has been guiding us through some of the bumps. feedback is welcome. I built it, but the forum itself is a template, so I'm not familiar of what it's capable of as of yet. it's a learning curve for all of us.

everybody seems to like the new theme on here except the grey in the post section. I'm trying to figure that out. the themes are simple to install, so if I get a lot of negative feedback, it will be switched. keep in mind you can also set it to what you wish. we have a lot of options here.

we have over 2300 views, but only time will tell how the forum will continue. I hope it will continue to be the place to go for discussions of Cooper.

Shutter.

added: I will also get the red and black buttons easier to read. might take a day or two, but I'll fix them along with making the grey area lighter. I don't want hard to read things on a forum.

Cossey Homicide Update:

Although the King County Sheriff's Office says the Cossey murder has been bumped up to the Major Case Squad, here is what the regular grunts are dealing with in the jurisdictions surrounding Seattle:

From Sgt Cindi King, PIO of the KCSO:

Date : March 11, 2014
Case#:  14-057470

Man’s Death Ruled Accidental

Woodinville- King County Sheriff’s detective said the death of a man found dead in a Woodinville recycle center last week appears to be accidental.

On Friday March 7th around 2 pm deputies responded to the Cascade Recycle Center in the 14000 block of NE 190th St when an employee found a man’s body in a pile of recycled materials.

Sheriff detectives investigated the scene and the body was taken to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.  The medical examiner’s office ruled the death an accidental death by crushing or blunt force.

The medical examiner’s office said the victim was identified as 65 year old William Burns.   Burns was known to be homeless and had a documented history of sleeping in recycle bins.  Detectives believe he may have been sleeping in a recycle bin when the bin was picked up and he was crushed inside the recycle truck.

******************
As for Cossey and the MCS, I haven't heard a thing from Sgt King on that front.

Shutter, I think we need a new category - "Cooper World Gossip."

After all, certain Cooper folks have been flying into Seattle and meeting other certain Cooper folks and I don't know a thing! C'mon Shut, I can't do this all by myself.

Usually I can count on Galen and Meyer to give me a steady dose of the juicy stuff, but they're running dry these days.  Galen is just plain distracted - yeah, a woman's involved, but I don't even know her name. Sigh.

I dropped in on the DZ site and read several  of the posts -- I noticed the two main characters take up most  of the air time there, still, and they have also been threatened with being banned.  Wow,  then what.  Several folks still drop in and post there, but not like before. It's a shell of its former self and the two main characters have pretty much gotten what they want, a forum all to themselves.

Thanks for keeping order, for not leaving a dark cloud hanging over us with threats of being banned at every turn, for the silliest of whims and reasons.  Any discussion that gets out of hand, you're on top of it, right now!  You are keeping it civil and maintaining order, and the information exchange and discussion is flowing.  I have gotten more information here on the case in just a few short weeks than I got at the other place in several months.  I'm here, and I hope everyone keeps talking, asking, questioning, researching, and discussing the case in all of its facets.  We've got a good thing going here, I hope it keeps going strong.  Thanks for all your work to make it happen.  MeyerLouie

Thanks Meyer, I'm just trying to provide a good source of information minus all the drama. we have some good people here regardless what others say. things have also slowed down a bit here as well. I'm not looking for an active forum 24/7. I would like to see this forum become the place to seek out information about DB Cooper, and not have to scroll through post after post of nonsense just to find discussion about Cooper. only time will tell if people decide this is the place to go. I also hope more jumpers realize we can be civil and "jump" aboard.  8)

The other site is constantly stuck on two suspects. I'm not against discussing them, but not in the manor it happens "over there". we can pick and choose a topic to discuss. I'm always open for improvements and feedback. I want people to feel they are part of the forum and there voice is heard. It's not just up to me to make this happen, you guys are the key to success in making the forum run.

Just a heads up, when you look on the members section you will see the name "Dave". that would be me  8). I had to sign in as a regular member in order to test some functions, such as the ability to change the theme to what ever I have loaded into the system, or to go back to the original theme when the forum started. it's pretty simple to do, and only you will see it. I'm always tinkering around with this learning as I go. if anyone wishes to use this function just let me know if you can't figure it out.

Thanks

I have also added video embedding. all you do know is paste the video link onto the post, and your done. the video will appear in your post, similar to photo's. I had to rearrange the links and video vault. the video's were in between the links. I separated them for easy access.  8)

It is not true what is being said on the DZ about this forum being "private" I have multiple spammers coming to the site causing me to engage the proxy blocker. some people who have AOL, especially dial up, goes through a legit proxy server. schools also use them. I have to find the proper filter to correctly address the issue. other people are trying to claim other things. spammers started showing up in the last week. this is the only option I have at the moment. if it affects anyone in the future, let me know. In the past I was turning it on and off because of one individual. I came on here last nite and found 7 spammers viewing the site. I had someone also confirm this.

I am not trying to block the public from anything. I'm protecting the site. I welcome the public, or anyone who has good intentions of discussing the Cooper case. it's not my intention to make the site a "best seller" I'm looking for a place to discuss the case without all the drama attached. certain individuals are stating the opposite. I don't know what else can be done. until a better filter is found, the proxy blocker needs to stay on. I can't be here 24/7. I do find it strange that spammers found this site. it doesn't have a .com, nor can it be searched out easily. If the forum continues, I will get a proper domain for it, but that's if the interest continues. I can't control what is being said on other forums. my job is to work with this one, and everyone here.

Thanks
Shutter

I feel this needs to be added. the proxy blocker on this site does what it is intended to do, block proxies. I have checked it on a Iphone, it worked. I checked it on my tablet, worked. it blocks schools because they run proxies. it blocks AOL dial up. this uses a proxy as well. all dial ups do. so, a small amount of people will be affected by this block. when I find one more reasonable. it will be applied.

And your efforts are appreciated! A thankless job no doubt.

New posts over at the DZ greatly out number the new posts on this forum every day. Yet, there are more Cooper related posts on this forum every day than there are at the DZ. That speaks volumes as to why this forum is necessary. Thanks again!

Thanks Parrot, my intention was the topic of Cooper, you just don't see that anymore over at DZ. still a lot of good people over there, but it's hard to have any real conversation with constant distortion clogging it up. I want people to enjoy coming here, and not cringe while opening the page only to see nothing about Cooper day after day. you won't find a perfect forum anywhere. tempers will rise at times, but they also fade. it's happened here, and I watched it, and it resolved itself. I'm sure that won't happen everytime, but it shows maturity. I can't please everyone, but I try my best to make things work. I also can't control and remove every post made, or moderate them prior to posting. criticism is tough on everyone.

we have options galore here. we can do things other forums can't. we can work together, mix things up, change the look, change the menu, be heard from the person who started it all. you can speak off topic in certain sections, ask for a new section. you can change the theme to what you wish to see. we have the power by working together as a team. drop links right on the post, highlighting, video embedding. I don't know what else you could possibly ask for in a forum. If it doesn't work. I know I tried my best to make it happen.

Shutter.... 8)
