I've said it before and I'll say it again: We have everything we need right now to solve the case. We have enough pieces of the puzzle to crack the riddle. We are simply faced with a mental challenge requiring a Sherlock Holmes approach.

I believe the key to solving the DB Cooper riddle involves putting yourself into DB Cooper's mind, then seeing what evolves. Here's an example:

1) We know DB Cooper left his tie and alligator tie clip on the jet. In all likelihood this was done accidentally, after all, the guy was anal about collecting all evidence.

OK, with that in mind, how do you think DBC responded when he realized he left the tie and tie clip behind?

I assume he was very concerned that the authorities may be able to garner a fingerprint from the tie or tie clip or in some other manner figure out who the owner of the tie and tie clip is.

In my mind, DBC probably decided to lay low for quite awhile after the skyjacking, in part, because of this. In other words, I highly doubt he spent any of the money and I highly doubt that he had it hiding in his closet or anywhere near him, just in case the authorities came knocking at his door.

2) I'd being willing to wager that DB Cooper read everything he could about the skyjack in the newspapers immediately after the event. After all, he would want to know what the authorities were thinking, where they were searching, etc.

OK, so what if you're Sheridan Peterson and you're DB Cooper and you read the next day in a United Press International article that the authorities are looking for a former smokejumper? Additionally, what if you're Sheridan Peterson and you're DB Cooper and you read that Linn Emerick--a guy that you know personally from skydiving at Issaquah Sky Sports years earlier--states that he thinks he knows who DBC is based upon the sketch and that this person is someone who used to skydive at Issaquah Sky Sports?

May I suggest that in this case Sheridan--if he actually was DBC--was probably petrified and very concerned that the authorities were hot on his trail. Again, with this in mind you would think the Sheridan would distance himself from the money, and frankly the country, for quite awhile. In other words, his thoughts and actions would be shaped by what he considers a threat.

Where all of this leads and the story it tells is all part of solving the riddle. There are plenty such examples in this case and plenty such paths that we can take as we attempt to figure out what happened and why. Remember, a mind is a beautiful thing to waste.

Do most people think he left the tie accidentally? Sometimes I think that Cooper was all over the place one minute and then locked on focused the next minute.  He was anal about certain things (getting the notes back), but he left his prints on the drink glasses and he did not really try to disguise himself much.  Leaving the tie could have been an accident, but it also could have been done on purpose.  Do we know for sure where it was found? I seem to remember it was found on the seat versus in the back of the magazine holder.

I agree that he would want to lay low, and he seems to be the type of guy who would read all the papers.  I also agree that there is enough information now to solve it, but I really think we need DNA, prints, or some of the $20's to show up.

I don't know what "most people" think. However, the thought of the tie being left purposely as part of some grand scheme strikes me as just as foolish as thinking the money was planted on Tena Bar to be found purposely.

Also, consider what we have learned about the tie in recent years. Specifically, that particles on the tie indicate some involvement with the aerospace sector. This is simply too coincidental for me to write off as some fifth-degree chess move or conspiracy that would take five decades to bear fruit.

The tie was found on 18E...the seat DBC was using.

Not sure where you got 5th degree chess move or conspiracy from me.  I speculate that he left the tie as a "screw you" to whoever.  Maybe he saw the tie as a calling card or he saw it as a symbol of him being tied down by life.

So they found the tie physically on the seat of where he was sitting? I have not spent a lot of time thinking about how he would have dropped the tie, but it is certainly possible.  What kind of movements is he doing that cause the tie to end up in the same seat he was in?  Does he take it off for a second, possibly planning to put it in a pocket before he jumps, or even leave it on for the jump?

I did not mean to suggest that you were spinning a conspiracy theory. I was simply trying to say that I do not believe he intentionally left the tie on his seat.

He did make a few mistakes, but obviously they did not lead to him getting caught.

Another side topic...

Does anyone have a link to solid information/pix of the drones in NE Colorado and western Nebraska? Just askin'. I want to keep abreast of developments there. Current official statements are pooh-poohing it all, now. Hmmm.

Bruce,

Have drones replaced the infamous Black Helicopters? Just askin...

Hope 2020 brings good things to you.

As I enter my 71st year I am still optimistic about the case being solved in my lifetime. I just wish there were a fast forward button I could push on that matter alone without advancing my own age.  ;)

Hoping for more collegiality and less acrimony in the forum in 2020. Miracles can happen.

And a HUGE thanks to Shutter for doing all he does and all on his own dime. We really owe him a lot.

I agree. Cooper absolutely needed to know this info. Back in the pre Internet days, this meant scouring TV, radio and print media for info.

Can you imagine the simultaneous feelings of relief and fear that Cooper would have had if he escaped the initial search and remained unidentified? You made it, but you are just one phone call away from being ID'd by someone who has put two and two together and calls the FBI. You can not relax. You can not let your guard down. You have to stay on top of the latest news about the case and remain hyper-vigilant, ready to run. Not a fun life.

Important parts of the case were never published and will never be known. That's just a factoid. Not everything makes it into a 302. FLYJACK'S imagination is also limited!   ;)

The implications of that is this case may be crucial. You heard it first from Georger.

I doubt that the Drone Phenomenon in northeast Colorado and western Nebraska is replacing the Black Helicopter Phenomenon. It's just one more!

And based upon the geography, I should also mention that this area is the birthplace of the Cattle Mutilation Phenomenon. The NBC TV reporter who first broke that story - Linda Moulton Howe - worked out of Denver.

As I have described before, Howe was the first reporter to jump on the cattle mutilations at the Fazio's in 1991 and Al and Richard turned her down because they already had their hands full with Cooperites... An excess of remarkable phenomenon, one might say.

Anyway... back to DB Cooper. The folks at Minnow Productions in the UK have just told me that their four-hour mega epic on Danny Boy will be airing on HBO in July, and then the BBC shortly thereafter. It features EVERYBODY! It'll be fun to see Jo Weber in her full glory, along with Bobby B, Barb and the gang at Thun Field - in particular the Formans. Not sure about Wolfie or Petey, though.

Bruce, is time travel involved here?

You can forget about the black helicopters and the drones.  The real question is what are 567 visitors doing on this site at the same time?  There are more than 250+ visitors here at this moment.  Maybe some aliens from beyond Pluto are making a study of Earthlings.  If they are, I'm sure they are going to have second thoughts about revealing themselves.

Shutter, do you know what all these visitors are doing here?

Gossip  ... but alas that's your point of view!   ;)  Do you even care about the Cooper case or is it just recreation now? You wait for things to come to you, or like some you fall back on dogma and stardom. Maybe its time for you to start hitting the late night talk shows, like Ghost to Ghost ?

Have you ever talked to Lars Larson FM101 talk radio … KXLFM101 ?  There was a day when he was hot in the Cooper market. He interviewed a  lot of people. Dont spend too much time communing with the dead!  ;)

Well I can tell you that they did not contact me about Sheridan. That said, one of their producers purchased a copy of my report concerning Sheridan about a year ago. So, any reference to Sheridan--which probably won't happen--will be dated at best.

Isn't that sort of like doing a documentary on the history of rock and roll and leaving out Elvis? (The previous line was for GEORGER'S benefit)

Cheers all!

You're correct, Eric. The Minnow production is circa 2017 or so, when they began their research, started contacting folks and such. Your star was just beginning its current ascendancy, so you were not on their radar much.

To that end, they saw their production as an historical summation - who, what, where and when as of their start date. Hence, Duane Weber, et. al.
