IMO, it needs to be recorded so the event can reach out further than the local area where the crime actually occurred. then each year can be viewed by anyone at anytime around the globe. it increases the odds of finding that person who possibly knows something.

There are no plans to record this year's CooperCon. It's a matter of cost.

Darren, to answer your question about Robert.....

Cooper Royalty is a false claim made up by Robert. it's anyone who doesn't agree with him about anything. you can't be negative against his suspect. he can't accept the fact of being banned for his behavior. he believes it's other reasons. if I make a post about Kenny it quickly becomes "slanted" even though facts are presented. it's perfectly okay for him to speak about other suspects in the same manor? he watches this forum like a hawk waiting for his name to be mentioned.

He spews negativity about Eric because of what happened with his little deal. I gave my opinion of not wanting to get involved and he goes ballistic. he's still trying to get us to work with him on something coming up next year that will change 20 more times in the future. then if you work with him he will try to trap you and try to divert you from working with anyone here. since you work with him I'm guessing he has tried something. that's what you won't see here by me or others here. you will not be forced or coerced into anything.

Here is the response that I gave Daren at DZ (without mentioning anyone's name of course):

"Cooper Royalty" is a term that carries with it a certain level of negativity. If you are referred to as "Cooper Royalty", it is usually not a compliment. The purpose of the term "Cooper Royalty", is to paint those being referred to as "Cooper Royalty" in a negative light while at the same time doing just the opposite for the person using the term. The term "Cooper Royalty" is used primarily by only one person in particular on certain forums, blogs and articles. However, reality is that there is actually no such thing as "Cooper Royalty", as it only exists inside the head of the person who created the term, and in a fictional place known as "Cooperland" (another term created by the same individual that is usually used as a term to describe the fictional land of negativity where all of "Cooper Royalty" as well as the rest of the evil "truth fearing" people that oppose his theories on a certain case reside).

It's a never ending circle with him. Eric holds a conference and it's my fault. someone asks for an opinion and it's all my fault. it's been raining here for two days, all my fault

I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about his December 1st deadline. I'll take the blame there too....

The guy can not survive without drama. I had to block him on PM's at the DZ. he kept sending them after the block. you can hear the notification but that's it. it was one after the another with the whining about Eric and the old "public". he couldn't even figure out cubic feet but decided to spew hatred about it. he keeps doing crap like this and expects everyone to follow him?

I was going to suggest we name this site “cooperroyalty.com”.  When they built a rodeo arena in California outside San Francisco, a critic said “who needs a palace for cows?”.  The owners decided to own the name rather than criticize it and its still called “the cow palace” today.

On the other hand, after the movie “Office Space” mocked TGIFridays for their pieces of flair, they stopped their flair.  I would have owned that too, putting up signs saying “now with 37 pieces of flair!”.

Cooperroyalty.com would have been great!

Who coined the term "The Cooper Vortex"? Was it Tom Kaye?

If it wasn't me, then I was an early user. Maybe it was a joint creation, too.

Back in 2011, Geoffrey Gray got a lot of traction in the media for his term: "Cooper Curse," and I was a little upset. I remember feeling the "curse" was over-stated, and was a little distorted - I didn't feel the investigatory dead-ends that were arising were that big a deal. At the DropZone I commented broadly that the curse was not that potent, not anywhere close to ongoing, daily CRAZINESS at the DZ, where Blevins, Jo Weber, Twisty Butt, Georger, Galen, Snowmman, and me (and others) were whipping each other into a frenzy.

In addition, people with seemingly sane minds were joining the chat rooms and become fanatics, usually in a good way. But their lives become devoted to researching the DB Cooper case - the confounding mysteries of Norjak were just sucking everyone in, with no one escaping.

So, I said: "Who cares about GG's 'Cooper Curse?' We've got something bigger right under our noses - the Cooper Vortex." It struck a chord and we've been using the term ubiquitously ever since. Just like the use of "DB" by the FBI within hours of the mix up with Clyde Jabin.

A fellow at the Mountain News who calls himself "Person33" says the following:

"377 coined the term cooper vortex at DZ. Tell Darren. 377 coined a number of terms including "venom magnet" referring to Blevins."

Sounds about right. Maybe 377 and I did it together, with 377 saying: what a vortex this is Cooper case - once somebody hears about they can never escape the pull. Maybe I put the "Cooper" and "Vortex" together? But Person 33 is correct. It all started at the DZ, circa 2011.

Thanks for the Vortex and Venom Magnet attributions Bruce. I'll own them.

I doubt G will apologize, but I hope he will. I want him back. He gets grouchy at times but his intelligence and analytical skills benefit all of us.

All of us do careless, thoughtless or mean spirited things from time to time that should result in apologies. When I find that long periods of time have passed without me offering any contrition or apologies I don't assume that I have become perfect. I instead try to examine why I have not been contrite for my inevitable failings. I owe Sheridan Peterson an apology for example. He told me that he lived off a confidential numbered Singapore bank account when he was working in SE Asia.  I mentioned this info to someone who subsequently (without asking me) published it. Even though the information was likely inaccurate (Singapore did not have numbered bank accounts at that time) the publication angered Sheridan and he ended a friendship that I enjoyed a lot.

I hold no grudges against Sheridan. My offer to defend him pro bono if he is ever indicted for Norjak still stands. I think the chances of that happening are very low since there is absolutely no evidence putting him on the plane and the FBI has apparently lost cig butts that could have exculpatory DNA evidence on them.

This statement will likely piss him off even further but his book's text has benefited substantially from Snow's editing. It provides insight into who Sheridan is and how he became so virulently anti-US govt. I see lots of parallels to the Norjak heist in his story (walking along the banks of the Columbia River in winter with inadequate footwear, Grecco's night jump into unknown territory in N Vietnam and worrying about terrain altitude, offering the pilot a twenty as a tip etc) but that's no proof of culpability.

I just turned 70. I hope my remaining lifespan is long but the reality of mortality is sobering as you get closer to the normal endpoints. I REALLY want to see the Cooper case solved. I am a hopeless optimist and think that it will be solved in my lifetime.  To me it's the ultimate aviation mystery, surpassing even the disappearances of Amelia Earhart and Nungesser and Coli You are not allowed to view links. Georger sent me an email yesterday. I will not comment about it's content other being satisfied with what was asked. I lifted the full ban several days ago minus the ability to post. this has also expired and is complete where he is allowed to comment but will be watched in the future.

I suggest that R99 and Georger either get along or refrain from commenting unless it can be done respectfully on both sides.
