Sadly, the Cooper story has become a bickering match everywhere you go. people get butt hurt over opinions, people call you "so called experts" etc.

I've been thinking about getting out all together for some time now. I think this forum has ran it's course of time. nothing left but pissing matches.

I don't know if Cooper will ever be solved.

As much as I would like to know all of the answers about this case, I have always been of the opinion that it will never be solved. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see it happening. I hope the forum stays and thrives though.

Mysteries that don't 'solve themselves' tend to go on for decades due to a lack of hard evidence at the core of the case. Any place humans are in charge things are going to get fucked up because Nature doesn't always make things obvious, or work the way we think it 'should' work.

Flyjack is on a personal mission. Why is anyone's guess. We are just in his way! The truth is in his way, whatever the truth is. IMO the Cooper case breaks down to a number of individual problems - any solution of those issues makes progress in solving the case.

One of those problems is 'how long was money at Tena Bar? When did the money arrive on Tena Bar? What could give us a reliable clock on that? And why has it taken so long to answer that basic question! ?  ;)

TK and his colleagues have my Cooper twenty. It's a real longshot but maybe they will find some useful evidence. They have my permission to snip a small piece for destructive testing.

Georger is right.  The T Bar money mystery is right in front of us with tangible physical evidence and we haven't been able to solve it.

Tom and I are talking again. Nothing I do will involve your twenty. I with others are on a completely separate mission, but something fell into my lap last year and we are going to pursue it, as time allows. We feel this is worth Lab tests being performed. The stage for that was set in Nov-December 2018. We need to answer some core questions about this case and that is my focus, as time allows.

I welcome any suggestions you might have for testing my Cooper twenty Georger. Feel free to chime in with Tom.

When you can, pls let us know what you and Tom are working on.  Analysis of physical evidence is, to me at least, far more interesting than sketch matching and the seemingly endless stream of speculative/forced-fit Cooper suspects.

I remember, and am still insanely curious, what Georger's "Element X" is and how it could be used to put a clock on the Cooper money... Especially if TK can make an attempt to get good measurements.

Interesting question!  ;)  You are always close to this case, where it matters. Im smiling ...

Fact is we have needed 'clocks' for a lot of things in the Cooper case. None of this is lost on Tom - he has recognised that need from the start.  The truth is, Andrade, there is no single element X, but lots of elements and things and processes that were at work in the Cooper case, up to and including with the money at Tina Bar.

I will be specific and share what I am doing at some point, no matter how this turns out. Good, bad, or indifferent. Lots of things conspired (out of the blue) last year to fertilize some new lines for research in the Cooper case, and we are simply pursuing several of those lines of inquiry. 377 says that Tom is also doing work on 377's Cooper bill.

Let me just leave it at that. It might turn out to be an interesting summer.

Just to be clear: Tom is doing his work with his people - I am doing work with other people. Tom and I so far are not working together on anything, except that we are exchanging email and ideas which could eventually benefit us both.

 :)

I applaud the continuing effort to analyze physical evidence: tie particles, bills etc. Less drama, less speculation and, in my view, more productive than matching faces to FBI sketches of unknown accuracy.

I hope someone will take a sample off of Norman's rig that resides at the WA History Museum. Norman's rigs were stored in his machine shop. Norman did work for Boeing. The rigs may have had machine shop residue on their outer surfaces. We need to rule out the possibility that the metals on the tie were picked up by Cooper dragging it across Norman's rigs while inspecting them. If that was how the metals got on the tie, then they should be more concentrated on the lower portion. You wouldn't expect the part of the tie right near the top to contact the inspected rigs.

Attention has been focused on Ti etc. The spores found deserve equal if not more attention. Tom writes:

"A few spores were found in the 2009 sample sets and these were most similar to the Impatiens family. Impatiens has more than 1,000 species so pictures were sent to Dr. Steven Janssens in Belgium for identification. Dr. Janssens found the closest match to be Impatiens immani from Africa but this was based on limited views of the pollen. Subsequent samples from 2011 clearly showed the trilete aperture (Fig. 1 top row) which is specific to spores and allowed the firm identification of Lycopodium clavatum. Lycopodium in 1971 was used as flash powder by magicians, had a role in the then small field of homeopathy, for skin and stomach maladies, and was used as an anti-sticking agent in pills [1].

Many Lycopodium spores appeared to be covered with an residue of small round particles that are a common feature of the surface texture in Impatiens pollen (Fig. 3). Once their identification as Lycopodium was determined, the ornamentation was out of place, and subsequent EDS analysis showed that the ornamentation was in fact a powder residue made up of titanium dioxide, silicates and alumina. These materials are typically used for pill coatings [2]. This powder suggests that Cooper would have probably been taking some form of pill on a regular basis.

Microscopic examination of more than 28 SEM stubs from Cooper's tie revealed a quantity of Lycopodium spores. The Lycopodium spores offer the possibility that Cooper was taking some form of pill during working hours while wearing the tie. A retired pharmacist [3] was consulted as to what family of drug might use an orally ingested tablet that would require anti-stick dust, but no information could be found. Medical histories of potential Cooper suspects might reveal a particular drug that could be associated with the Lycopodium additive and thereby forging a link between the suspect and the crime."

*Would the same spores turn up on Hayden's parachute?  :)   Interesting question -

I note that the FBI now plans to turn everything over to the Smithsonian. That is a welcome development. Perhaps to the Air & Space Museum previously run by Farouk El-Baz?

 :congrats:

There goes probably the last chance for a successful prosecution based on evidence in FBI custody. The chain of custody protocols will be irretrievably broken when it all goes to a museum. This may be a moot point however. Losing the cig butts was probably fatal to a prosecution unless a suspect was captured with a bunch of crisp Cooper twenties.

People should get their applications in early, to be a part of the Smithsonian DBCooper project!   :chr2:

*Update: There is nobody there to take any applications.  ;)
