So you're saying:
The DBC Vortex has to modify it's behavior to suit the needs of the people documenting the DBC Vortex.

It's like this is all a scripted reality show, and respect has to be shown to the people behind the camera?

geez.

In 1971, If you were a US citizen with a US passport in a foreign country that required visas (Nepal and Vietnam did) and you traveled to the USA at some point in time, do we agree that looking at visa and entry stamps in your passport would be enough to say where you were? Assuming you're travelling normally, say by airplane. If you're sneaking over borders, all bets are off. But that seems ridiculous talking about Nepal/USA travel.

I don't see the scenario where the travel back and forth between Nepal and the USA would be possible, by a US citizen, without evidence in a passport.

1) How would you know what stamps were in Sheridan's passport from nearly 50 years ago?

2) Why didn't Sheridan show his passport to the FBI in 2003? No longer had it by that time?

3) There was a significant black market which Sheridan discusses in his book. What causes you to think that he wouldn't have considered avoiding "evidence" by availing himself of this black market?

4) What were the requirements if travelling between military bases? For example, fly from US Base in Asia directly to US Base in America?
Some men see things as they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?

He is Documenting the people and the stories of the cooper vortex. Let him do his thing, if you wanna bash ullis I get it but leave Darren out of this he’s done nothing to you.

You might be better off staying out of the disagreements on this forum. you can find yourself in trouble in a short period. I understand you are sticking up for Darren.

Also, I didn't mean you couldn't discuss your suspect. I just don't want you going overboard with the postings.

Well, I'll be honest.
My relationship with Sheridan has gone in the toilet.
He's got an opinion about how this style of sentence should be punctuated, and I have an opinion.
We're breaking up over the difference of opinions.

"The sky was red; however, it was green the day before"

His preference is:
"The sky was red; however it was green the day before"

Yet another Vietnam documentary that will never see the light of day, due to the egos involved.
At least it's we're both drama queens.

Hey Bruce, do you use the AP Style Book? what's your opinion?

All pro publishers out there, let's discuss the 4 1/2 ways however can be used and punctuated.
From Quora, which according to Blevins is the new new source of perfect knowledge:

The first is using it as a conjunctive adverb. In this sense the meaning of however is that the independent clause that follows counters the independent clause before it (denying it, giving a caveat, stating something as true that we would not expect considering the first clause, etc.)

As a fully independent clause, it needs a semicolon to separate them. (As per the link MετάEd gave in the comment on the question, though note that a conjunctive adverb is not the same as a conjunction, so the "Don't use it with with conjunctions" doesn't apply).

And with conjunctive adverbs of more than one syllable, we use a comma after it to help clarify what is the second independent clause.

That's use of however number 1. Number 1½ is that since they're independent clauses we can just have them as separate sentences:

Our plane was delayed overnight. However, the airlines reimbursed us for lodging.

We would favour a new sentence or a semicolon depending on whether we wanted the semicolon's suggestion of a particularly strong tie between the two clauses.

(There are some who dislike starting a sentence with however so some style-guides prohibit it, but there's no grammatical reason not to, and it's as good an option to have available as any other. Most style-guides now allow it.)

We can use however as an aside, pointing out that the sentence (or possibly an independent or parenthetical clause, though as a matter of style that could get fiddly) opposes the previous:

It looks as though he's upset. She told me, however, that he always has that look on his face.

Here we use a comma both before and after.

Finally, we can use it to mean "to whatever extent or degree", "in whatever manner" or "by whatever means". This sense must not use a semicolon or a comma.

However we use punctuation, the goal is always clear expression.

This goal is shared by all writers however they decide to deal with those cases where different style-guides disagree.

If you don't use a semicolon in the cases in your question, you can end up using however in this sense, when you intend the conjunctive adverb sense:

Some sentences are ambiguous; however, we try hard to avoid this.

Some sentences are ambiguous however we try hard to avoid this.

The first sentence here states two separate thoughts, and points out that one is opposed to the other: "Some sentences are ambiguous" and "we try hard to avoid this".

The second sentence states that no matter how hard we try to avoid it, some sentences are ambiguous.

These two grammatically correct sentences differ only in whether we followed the semicolon-and-comma rule you mention, showing its value clearly.

*Four-and-a-half if we include the informal use as an emphatic form of how; "However did you manage that?". This comes from a sense where the original how + ever works, ("How ever did you manage that?") and many would say that this is the only correct form here, and however should not be used.

My guess? You have benevolent motivations. I don't think you have any aspirations to make money off the Cooper story. You've done a lot of work and spent money that you will never recover helping an old man get his book published before he dies. I don't think it goes deeper than that.

Of course. No answers.

I suppose I should just take your word that Sheridan wasn't DBC? I'll let the FBI know so that they can just take your word too.

Appreciate the candid glimpse into the (predictably) tumultuous editing process with Sheridan.

How sad that he rebuffed your offer to edit, which in my opinion is badly needed.

Sheridan just can't see his own lack of clarity and consistency. Pity...

You sure made a sincere effort to help a sick old man get his opus published.

Kindness rejected is still kindness.

Best of the season to you Snow,

Blevins may get his honeymoon with Sheridan but it will be short. They all are in Sheridan World.

I actually wish Robert good luck. He will surely need it.

When Sheridan exhausts all friendship possibilities he may have to cycle through the rejects.

I may get a second chance yet.

In parting, I promised Sheridan I wouldn't share anything about his work. I do consider some people friends here, so I will just say again, he's not Cooper, and there's no unturned leaves to obsess about.

Agreed snow, petey was not cooper and although interesting, we've spent enough time on him. It's about time we shift our attention to much more viable suspects...
