I agree that the confusing thing about Sheridan is his strong views, and how he seemed (at least in 2008) to be still fighting the Vietnam War period, when most people have moved on.

His novel covers incidents from when he was a boy up to Nepal..so 1926 to 1970.

I would really be interested in whether Sheridan has other books or poetry. He said he had a book that was unpublished when he did the Boeing resume in 1962.

Reminds me, I corrected the spelling on Sheridan's reference to LeRoi Jones (now known as Amiri Baraka)

I didn't know of LeRoi Jones; had to consult the web:

"Baraka's career spanned nearly 50 years, and his themes range from black liberation to white racism."

Here are two lines of Sheridan's poetry, from inside Frightful Laughter. It was published in his college's literary magazine, and is about man's insensitivity to man:

How morbid a soul can man possess,
To laugh at a sight of such great distress?

From the link above, you can see if Sheridan was impressed with Baraka's style (LeRoi Jones)...it's because Sheridan goes the same way:

Baraka was well known for his strident social criticism, often writing in an incendiary style that made it difficult for some audiences and critics to respond with objectivity to his works. Throughout most of his career his method in poetry, drama, fiction, and essays was confrontational, calculated to shock and awaken audiences to the political concerns of black Americans. For decades, Baraka was one of the most prominent voices in the world of American literature.

Do you have Blevins permission to speak publicly about Sheridan? If not, Snow can print a very good counterfeit permission certificate.  ;)

Hijacking a plane is also planning..it's the amount that is in question. it appears he didn't have much of one in some cases.

In what way(s) did DBC lack a plan?

Agreed. Twelve days is not a long time to spend planning the perfect crime. Guy was reckless, but there was a plan. Wrote the note, built the "bomb," picked the route, and maybe that was it. But he had the knowledge, and the plan was to use that.

Route:a way or course taken in getting from a starting point to a destination..

"westerly" makes no difference.

Cooper giving directions of getting from Seattle to Mexico City would be a route taken. flying easterly, or north, west is not a route. he gave no indications as to getting anywhere except using Mexico....
