We sure could use a good "breeze" in Cooper County today. The smoke from British Columbia forest fires and our own - Chelan, Okanagan, JBLM controlled burns, etc - has dirtied our skies so much that my local air quality monitoring station in Puyallup is registering 95 on a scale of 0-200. At 135 the Dept of Ecology recommends evacuation.

Whew.

Where's that Vortex when I need it!

Well, your question made me wonder: Why is the Tacoma Narrows Bridge the preferred jumping platform for Cooperites wishing to leave the Vortex and not the I-5 bridge over the Columbia, nor the RR bridge?

Speaking of health issues, I haven't heard back from JT about Himms. Any updates from anyone?

Bruce has a "thing!" about Tina Mucklow. Perversion or actual fact-based something-er-otha? It grew into a major impediment staining everything Bruce says, does, etc. His work is thus highly suspicious and untrustworthy. That seems to be the fate of most Cooper book 'writers'. They all have some fatal flaw (the size of the Moon!). The whole thing far surpasses anything at stake in the Cooper case! Bruce is more interested in Tina Mucklow than in the DB Cooper case!

But Bruce has fans who are equally snake-bit. Its a social media thing made possible by the Internet.

Wake me when Bruce has been nominated for an Oscar!  :congrats:

I will be happy to wake you when I'm nominated, G. In fact, when I win I'll even kiss you!

Too much information!

We are a stepping stone in his work IMO. it's a test that wasn't done, so I believe we can get some results that may help his findings, or correct some. it's all about finding out what happened to these bills. that's the bottom line, and that's what we are setting out to do....

Good perspective.

As I notified you today I have contacted the same paper expert who works with US Treasury, same person who consulted back in 08-09, and he is still willing to give advice ... so he and I will be talking before the end of this week if schedules permit... but he is still on board and a very valuable asset. If something of merit comes up I think it can still be handled. Let's cross one bridge at a time...  ;)

Is this paper expert open to answer questions about the Tina bar money?

I'm sure several of you have received an email from Tom Colbert about strong evidence being found and turned over to the FBI. this supposedly involves a chute & cash.....I'm not sure if Tom wants the PDF made public as of yet. it's 5 am here, so I'll wait for one of you to release the information later in the day since I will not be available.

If he is right it's good bye Amboy chute, and all the other suspects pushing they were Cooper.....

sadly, I have to get ready for work....my eyes are still crossed up (still asleep) trying to read all of this in such a short period..... :-X

A document has been received from Tom Colbert which soon will be public knowledge.

The opening passage of this document reads, quote:

THE ESCAPE OF D.B. COOPER
– Executive Summary –
     by Tom Colbert

"The Cold Case Team has received the final piece of the 1971 “NORJAK” puzzle: the inside story of the hijacker’s getaway, with the help of 3 partners. Adding weight to this are matching facts found in FBI field reports (released by court order), a newsman’s forgotten eyewitness interviews, and forensic materials just uncovered at a dig site."

<edit> Permissions have been received. Dave will be posting Tom's pdf as soon as we can get to it ... stay tuned.
Thanks,
G

DON'T ANYONE JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS ABOUT A "PARACHUTE STRAP" BEING FOUND ANYWHERE ALONG THE COLUMBIA RIVER!

In 2013, Meyer Louie and I found a strap at Tina Bar that also, at first glance, appeared to be a parachute strap.  But upon further investigation, it turned out to be a tie-down strap used on barges that were transporting cargo on the Columbia River.

So keep an open mind, but don't jump to conclusions just yet.  Hopefully, there are some numbers on the new strap that will help in identifying it.

Shutter/Dave, 377/Mark, Vicki, Georger/Jerry, Bruce and Galen:

At long last, with the Cold Case Team's hard work finally breaking on website Foxnews.com tonight, I can share with you -- my go-to Gurus on everything Cooper -- what we've been working on all these months: see email press release below and attached summary (more will be coming on DBCooper.com).

I know my keeping a distance, intel gathering under cover, and general secretive nature has put some of u off, and I apologize for that. But our target has been vengeful, stalking us both on and off line (with the help of others), so my team and  family's safety has been my free-time focus. With authorities about to knock on doors and growing media pressure building, I think he and his knuckleheads will be occupied with other things.

Before I get crazy-busy on the production side (Doc update is being negotiated) and I roll into research mode on my next true story, I wanted to reach out and let you know how much I've appreciated all your wisdom, whit, and patience with this case amateur over the years. Like my CCT members, you are all spokes on this slow wheel of justice. Your bits and pieces of investigative truth have been absorbed into this full narrative, and as in the book, I'll always make an effort to verbally point out your contributions when warranted.

Look forward to getting together for beers one day.

God bless, TJC

Tom sent me an email stating no money has been found yet, but here is what I read this morning...

After two face-to-face meetings, an anonymous Northwest family has given permission to a cold case team to pass on the clan's rugged, 200-acre location to the FBI. The reason: "Potential evidence" involving the missing D.B. Cooper parachute and money has just been found there, and is now being offered to the Bureau.

The Cold Case Team has received the final piece of the 1971 “NORJAK” puzzle: the inside story of the hijacker’s getaway, with the help of 3 partners. Adding weight to this are matching facts found in FBI field reports (released by court order), a newsman’s forgotten eyewitness interviews, and forensic materials just uncovered at a dig site.

The genesis of this development comes from an unassuming Oregon couple: RUSS COOPER (No joke; 62), a construction company owner and recreational pilot, and his wife KRISTY (60), a retired senior administrator for the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and a reserve officer. Between work, grandkid visits and caring for ailing family members, this pair finds time each week to sit on a citizen advisory board for their local police department.

Two decades ago, Russ claims an aviator (below) discreetly told him and three other members at their local flying club the alleged escape’s details. After sharing it years later with his new cop-bride, they decided to contact the FBI in 2007. But even with her police creds and a lawyer’s help, Kristy couldn’t get a return call from either the Portland or Seattle field offices. Now with the four other club members deceased (including the storyteller), the pair are trying again to go public, this time through Thomas J. Colbert (TJC). The couple called him on 3/2/17 after hearing of the Bureau FOIA suit involving his team of 40 private investigators – led by former FBI.

In 1997, Russ (then 42) was elected VP of his antique airplane chapter at Ever-green Field in Clark County, WA. When he walked in on four “old timers” (in their 60s) at a clubhouse coffee klatch, one of them – a “very serious” 10-year pilot named WALLY – asked if Russ could be trusted.1 Fellow flyers put Wally at ease, saying the young VP was “not from the area and not a talker.” In truth though, the low-key Russ had grown up there as a teenager

Wally, an 82nd Airborne veteran, proceeded to tell the story (all in the 3rd person) involving “a light-plane pilot” that had been tasked to fly D.B. Cooper out of his night drop zone in the farmlands near La Center, Washington

On Nov. 24, 1971, the pilot’s small Cessna was circling after 8 pm when the slow-moving Northwest airliner broke through the storm clouds and rain. Minutes later, the pilot spotted a truck’s blinking headlights below, a signal that the daredevil had touched down and rendezvoused with two other partners.2 All their practiced air-to-ground coordination paid off; the jumper missed the selected drop zone by only 1300 feet.3 The flyer’s two-seater aircraft then swooped towards nearby Goheen Airstrip to await the arrival of the vehicle and Cooper.

When the three men pulled up to the idling Cessna, the hijacker crawled inside with his briefcase bomb and $50,000 of the jet ransom. The remaining $150K and parachute were driven away by the two others to be buried.

Flying “below the radar,” the pilot and Cooper followed three rivers to Vancouver Lake where the alleged $50,000 and briefcase bomb were unceremoniously dumped – with the hopes, Wally explained, that it would lead authorities to think Cooper had drowned. FYI: The money and briefcase instead sank into the lake’s notorious deep mud – which happens to be right next door to the Columbia River’s Tena Bar. TJC now suspects the hijack money that was “discovered” there in 1980 was Cooper’s second attempt at a drowning stunt.

The pilot and skyjacker then flew to Oregon’s Scappoose Airstrip where they transferred everything into another small plane. Storyteller Wally noted this was when Cooper changed out of his business suit.

The pair’s last landing was at the hijack’s starting point, Portland International Airport, where the two parted ways at a terminal. FYI: TJC believes Wally was in fact one of the two on the burial crew; his plot’s validated details also appear to point at a one-time FBI Cooper suspect – a suspect the Cold Case Team has been trailing for six years. (Research supporting the 9 superscripts starts on p. 7; background on the team’s former suspect is on pgs. 9-12.)

Source Russ committed Wally’s 1971 escape story to memory. Then later, he and Kristy reviewed flight charts and traveled the full route – including to the alleged burial site of Cooper’s parachute and remaining cash.

Eight 1971 eyewitness accounts from farm families near the La Center drop zone have given credibility to this complex getaway tale. Though their testimonials officially went no further than the FBI, bits and pieces of it were eventually picked up by a newspaper (p. 13), a TV show and four credible books – three of which were authored by retired Bureau special agents.

The most senior former FBI member on TJC’s team, Assistant Director William M. Baker (Criminal Investigative Division; his 1980 photo is on page 8), was first to receive a complete briefing on all of these new developments. He stated, “Look…this is more than a theory, and you have a [living suspect] that has all the attributes of someone to do this successfully. These are issues that have to be examined and weighed” by the Bureau. “I’m all for it.”

One problem I see is Vancouver lake was dredged and the material was placed in the lake, it's the island you now see...it's doesn't support the Tina bar find...
