You mean like making another thread of PM's? that can't be done...

Under MY MESSAGES   can you set up PM-I and PM-II   or PM and PM-Testing? Everyone would have access to PM and only certain people would have access to PM-Testing?  Would that work? And could people make attachments?

I never dreamed this would become an issue!

PM's are a set program. you can't change them. if we use PM's, the same will happen similar to the emails...

So lets keep it just as it is. Notice was already sent to those involved and they know what to expect ... so
discussion closed as far as Im concerned. Are you ok with that?

Im going to go read the rest of tonight's posts while you are thinking.  :))

 ;)

I would still like to hear what other think about it....where does it end, do I remove PM's because people are discussing things offline? I figured since I gave the reason that all would be fine.....It's only during the first steps of the testing period.

Bottom line is it's your forum to do with as you want! I see nothing wrong in what you have done.

End of discussion, imho. It's been a productive evening/day. 4 Clydesdales abreast!  :)) :)) :))

So, if I'm reading this right, this is a way for the 3 of you to communicate privately with Blevins? Correct???  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Seriously, I don't think anyone should have issue with it.

I don't see an issue. It would be a PRIVATE ROOM, such as having a private event page on Facebook. It is done all the time. People that are offended really need to grow a pair. So....let the testing, talking and ideas emerge!  I am behind you 100%

Honestly, I really don't care one way or the other.  I'm surprised this has become as big of an issue as it has.

Vicki this might be a good opportunity to ask: did your Dad have a familiarity with the Northwest, that you know of? Some history there? Anything that would have made that part of the Country a logical place for him to set up operations in once he left your family?  Hope you dont mind the question -

Hi Georger...I do not mind. :)

Since he left when I was 7, I really do not remember much. However, after researching and with the help of Smokin99 I have a few articles from archived newspapers. See attached. Some of the articles explain his counterfeiting past along with his travels. It seems he passed counterfeit notes in all major cities across the US.

I also know he was born in Berkeley, CA on September 8 , 1927. He enlisted in the Navy in November 1942 and traveled to Illinois for training before he was placed on the USS DURIK stationed in Florida.  Here is a Youtube video showing the ship and crew. At 47:20 it looks like they are on an aircraft carrier.

He spent time in San Quentin 1953 - 1957ish
Leavenworth from 1959 - 1963. After he was released, he was in Las Vegas. He owned a print shop.  This is where he met my mother. We moved from Vegas to St. Paul, MN in 1967. He was arrested on April 20, 1971 for counterfeiting.

Vicki has spent many years trying to learn about her dad's past.  Hope you don't mind if I add a few things, Vicki.

Mel Wilson went to great lengths to conceal his past.  He left behind not only his first wife and children, who never heard from him again, but apparently all other family including his mother.  When he abandoned Vicki, her brother and her mom, he vanished into thin air again.  There are such gaps in his history, it would not be surprising if he had ties to any part of the country.

After serving time in San Quentin and Leavenworth, he consorted with known and hardened criminals after his release.  It was some of these people who ratted him out resulting in his arrest for counterfeiting.

He could have gone anywhere and done anything.

There is carrier footage in the video but the DURIK was a DE, Destroyer Escort. No aircraft, no aviation gear aboard DEs.

I keep wondering about Bill Mitchell's "turkey gobble" neck observation...

LUCKY YOU!!!

Send us some video when you fly Shutter.

The cost is high but those tunnels burn a LOT of electrical power. The recirculate air for efficiency but still...

Look at the thickness of the cables that come from the utility pole to the tunnel.

Hello Everyone!

Airing tonight:  D.B.Cooper episode of EXPEDITION UNKNOWN!

Back this summer I reached out to a lot of you for help with a D.B.Cooper episode of EXPEDITION UNKNOWN on the Travel Channel.  I was impressed by the depth of knowledge of everyone on this site and grateful for everyone's generosity.  I'm happy to announce that the episode debuts this evening on the Travel Channel at 9pm.  I want to again thank everyone on here who ever answered an email or a phone call from me or or co-workers.  Specific thanks to members here: Shutter, Bruce Smith, Robert99, Georger, Meyer Louie, & Mark Meltzer (Mark's on here, I think, yes?).

I hope you all enjoy the show. And just remember, anything that you like, I'm totally responsible for (with all your help), and anything you don't–it was the Network!

Thanks again to a great community!

-Amanda Marks

Thanks for the heads-up, Amanda.

Does anyone have a suggestion for viewing this episode other than via a cable subscription. I asked this question back in July with the HC broadcast, so I acknowledge in advance that I have not done due diligence in the  technical department, or my learning curve has a large arc.

I trust that Amanda will be sending out DVDs of the broadcast to the principals she cited. After the broadcast, of course.

On related news, I just got back from the holidays in New York, so I'm busy catching up on the news here at the Forum.
