Blevins is planning a big Cooper event, date not yet set but possibly late summer or fall 2019 in Portland.

The LGBT community will be notified. Its time for Kenny's life story to be protected! Maybe it's time for the Atty General of Washington to step in. People's rights are really being trashed ...  :nono: C:-)

I wonder if Blevin's book and actions could be considered a hate crime?

Blevins is the anarchist that just keeps on giving!

Thanks for the update on Bobby B, 377. Always good to know what the ol' boy is up to. He's been emailing me several times a day to goad me into working with him on this project, but I've learned that my life is best lived far from the influences of RMB.

That said, there is growing interest in having a continued Big Bash for Cooper in the T-Day period. I've received a few emails from individuals in Cooper World who have expressed a strong desire to see something added to the conferences that Eric is planning next year and beyond. I fully support that. I've suggested that the University of Oregon and Oregon State University change their football "Civil War" to the "Cooper Bowl," and play it on Thanksgiving Day in Portland. Then we could have a DB Cooper parade, too, akin to the Mardi Gras.

Get the LGBTQ community involved, too. Ron and Pat Forman have already been invited to a Gay Pride March and rode in a Caddie, I believe, as Persons of Honor to reflect their writings on Barb.

Then I could wear my "Mayor of Cooperville" sash, too!

I'm psyched.

Indeed, the 2019 DB Cooper Con is currently planned for Saturday, November 30, 2019 in Portland. Additionally, there will be other activities including festivities at Victor 23 on the evening before the conference and the evening of the conference. Also, I've been discussing some other fun things during that weekend with certain principals...details will be announced at a later date.

The objective is to make DB Cooper Con the premier event celebrating the DBC mystery on an annual basis.

We could have a Walk of Fame in Norjak, too!

Florence Schaffner already has a beer named after her. Perhaps we could put a star down for Tina in the sidewalk outside Victor 23?!

Speaking of Tina, I just realized that more guys have crushes on Tina than any other member of Flight 305. Hmmm. I am definitely not alone in that regard.

Seriously, perhaps we could have a memorial plaque for Tina. Maybe the others. Maybe one a year - have a ceremony?

Winter in Cooper Country

I got a call from Jo Weber, aka Mrs. Cooper, concerned about a report in her sunny Florida that Cooper Country got 8 feet of snow this weekend. Not true.

Here in the lowlands it was in the inches - here in Eatonville we got 4 inches. The mountain passes got three feet here in the Cascades and the Sierra Nevadas in California saw up to 7 feet.

But tonight in Cooper Country is gonna be nippy, though. Down to 10 degrees. I know that's nuttin' to you Arctic Blast Survivors in Minnie-Appolis and Iowa, but ten is not chopped liver. My pipes froze a tad last night, and it was only 22. So, I'll be running the water taps tonight for sure.

So EU and Blevins might be competing to produce the premier Cooper event?  VHS and Betamax? I'm inclined to support all Cooper events, parties and publications. I don't think Barb Dayton, Kenny Christiansen or Walter Reca was DBC, but I bought the books and DVDs. Would be nice to see some unified effort rather than competing events, but it's unlikely. Blevins does not yet have a date so I can't commit 100%, but I'll be at next years Cooper Con in Portland on Nov 30th. If Blevins decides on a date that works for me I will attend his event also.

Cooper sleuthing is a cool hobby. You meet a wide variety of interesting people with a common obsession/passion/interest. Reminds me a little bit of the characters you meet at dropzones.

Hopefully, someone calls in and threatens a lawsuit that causes Blevins event to not happen. That would be justice. Probably not necessary though, how many of these has he planned that never happened? I lost count.

I don't wish RMB ill, and we don't need any more law suits or threats of them. Yes, a unified celebration would be best, and 377 is stellar in his generosity of time, but I just can't see myself working with Blevs on anything. Maybe his gathering will just be an eclectic, indie-rock driven, smorgasbord of Cooper films clips and weird presentations.

Winter in Cooper Country Update

Folks around here are quaking in their boots with the forecast of a LOT more snow coming to Cooper Country - and in places where we can't handle it too well, like Seattle. The Emerald City is about to get up to 12 inches between Friday and Monday, and that would be the biggest dump in decades, and only the 7th time in recorded history for my adopted city to get that much snow.

Seattle has some snowplows, but only about 100 - for a city of nearly one million. Plus, Seattle has lots of hills - many of them very steep - and urban parking, when iced, is an epic undertaking.

The State of WA is also similarly under-equipped. There have been snow storms of 4-6 inches where I have not seen a single snowplow going in either direction on the I-5 as I spend hours trying to crawl my way past Tacoma and the Sea-Tac area.

Further, a few winters ago I saw one 3-incher that closed down my local state highway - SR 161 - heading north out of Eatonville - because the state simply did not send a snowplow to that stretch of road - ever. It isolated Eatonville, effectively, for 24-hours. I spoke to my local state rep about this, and he just laughed. I almost slugged him.

As we head into our second full week of snow and cold here in Cooper Country, it feels like I'm living in a Christmas Card. All the Doug Firs are laden with snow, with boughs sweeping down to the ground. After today's snow - the 3rd or 4th in this period - I am just too tired and non-plussed to even clear the snow off my car, nor even consider driving anywhere.

I awoke to a fresh 2-3 inches of snow yesterday morning, but it changed to rain and it's been raining steadily for the past 24-hours. So, we have Super-Slush. The county just sent out a notice that it is closing some of the more rural highways due to downed trees and ice.

I read that Sea-Tac has gotten something like 22 inches in the past week. Now, that is a lot for Seattle. Nevertheless, between plows and sand, rain, and lots of traffic on I-5, I do plan on heading to the Emerald City tomorrow for a rehearsal with my theater troupe. Parking might be the issue, though. But cabin fever is setting in as I have been house-bound for essentially ten days.

I hear some people are using their kayaks to go "sleigh" riding. Yeah!
