Ariel has the issue of customers...if Bryan can get things done through others tossing in the cash to get him started, and no Robert, we don't believe your story either...it's possible Bryan could get the store running, but the issue of income seems to be the problem. bars are tough to run (money wise) I was a bar manager/tender back in the late 80's, early 90's. you gotta sling a lot of drinks on a daily basis to stay afloat. we closed the bar for a couple months to renovate and added a kitchen, but it just didn't go as planned. the kitchen was too much to run for the amount of food going out...the worse thing is running tabs...these can get out of control quick. you need someone to watch the barmaids, they tend to give a lot of drinks out for tips, and return visits, but it causes loss of revenue. bands suck up money as well...Bryan has a tough road ahead of him...

The bar changed hands 3 times while I was there..Crown lounge...Gumtree Billy's...Prestige bar....this was less than 8 years time...

Perhaps the best for Brian would be to get the bar repaired and licensed again but have alternate employment that doesn't depend on the bar/store. Then he could keep the property and enjoy it, and still have outside security. I wish the best for Brian in any event -

Ariel:

Yes, by "leveling" I mean "make level," not tearing it down.

I think the Ariel tavern would make a great DB Cooper museum, tourist destination, and conference center. Along with a pub.

I wish Bryan all the best with his plans.

I believe you mean this comment..

Did you know Bruce Smith was being offered $15,000 and a credit in the upcoming film on Kenny Christiansen? They just wanted him to provide accuracy regarding small details of the hijacking itself.

Wow, 15k for small details lol....Robert must be getting millions  O0 O0 O0 O0

What??? They're doing a movie naming Kenny Christiansen as DB Cooper, but they're willing to pay Bruce 15 Grand because they're concerned about accuracy?

Thanks to Tom Colbert another myth has been busted...the so called "last minute indictment' due to the statue of limitations didn't actually happen at the last moment...this letter shows it was discussed in early 1976...

Good find. This is the 1976 San Francisco Conference referred to by news paper articles of the time - we discussed this at DZ. I believe Sluggo had a copy of this document? The status of evidence in the Cooper case was discussed. There should be many related documents somewhere -

It was after this conference that Himmelsbach declared in interviews that the Cooper flight path and drop zone had been "revised". The item received wide news coverage at the time however Cooper sleuths continue to ignore this factoid of history! Himmelsbach declared that the new understanding of Cooper's jump had him jumping "12 miles north of Portland", but an east-west line was not specified. !

Note the instructions given to all parties attending - have a thorough knowledge of all investigations to date - be ready to offer suggestions - - - four years later in 1980 Cooper money will surface at Tina Bar!

By a strange coincidence, Tina Bar is about 12 miles northwest of Portland International Airport.

Yes. This 1976 SFO Conference may have played a major role - it may have changed the whole direction of the investigation - or it may have changed nothing? Sluggo and I brought this up many years ago and nobody seemed interested in pursuing it. Obviously the timestamp of the drop was discussed and changed at least so said Himmelsbach after the conference to newspaper reporters. What were the new facts that brought about this change, if it was a change vs Himmelsbach grandstanding? How did this conference set the stage for everything that comes next - the Ingram find? Who attended this conference with what input? So many questions.

Tom Colbert has released more FOIA files. they can be found in his vault You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I've been reading them for a while now. it's funny how they will redact an entire page, why send it? going through them you will see suspects pop up, parachute finds (rigging cut off) etc. lots to read....

I like the letter sent stating he knew what happened...a helicopter picked him up off the stairs  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Tom

Agreed.  I just perused the last set and it's disappointing to see most of the 'leads' seem to be based on only a resemblance, the public writing in saying "I know who Cooper is, he looks like this guy I know".. and none of these people based it on substance.

This happens a lot in law enforcement. today, they get the wild calls through tip lines. the calls come flooding in, and a high percentage is not credible...

This is just a fraction of what they had to follow up on. after reading page after page it's kind of hard to say they ignored evidence, or suspects. the public put a lot on the plate for them...

It seems so silly to read all these people who seem so sure they know who Cooper is based on this.... 5 ft. 10,
175 lbs, brown or dark hair, brown eyes ! Must be 50 million people who match this description as it can't be more middle of the road. I'd be willing to make a wager that describes me exactly in 1971. Ok,I confess, I'm Cooper ! LOL When you read a lot of these files, you can really understand what a wild goose chase people were sending the. FBI on.

The highlight is the scene from Airport 1975 with formation-flying of the 747, an air force jet and a jet helicopter with a stuntman being lowered out the back! This rescue method was earlier seen in as a plot point in a couple of episodes of Thunderbirds, notably the pilot episode Trapped in the Sky. The highly dangerous air-to-air transfer was again attempted for real in a stunt-sequence in Sylvester Stallone’s Cliffhanger (1993).

with all of the back and forth last night I've decided to delete most of the comments, and get us back on track. a lot of the comments are pointless to keep. this will not remove anything of value but will clean up the last 24 hours of the thread.

I will start to remove the comments once everyone has seen this post...

Tell FLYJACK to post his NEW EVIDENCE in the EVIDENCE THREAD! Posts about stairs have nothing to do with Tina Bar.
