Title: DB Cooper TV project - now looking for Experts, Enthusiasts and more!
Post by: TVguy on April 29, 2015, 10:49:56 PM
Hi all!

My name is Andrew and I work in development at Atlas Media Corp (www.atlasmediacorp.com) - yes the same TV production company that was doing something not to long ago on DB Cooper. I believe some of you recently spoke with one of my coworkers. That was for a segment as part of a larger show. I am actually working on developing an entire show just on the DB Cooper case and would like to speak to as many of you as possible.

We are interested hearing about all theories, suspects, facts, misinformation and more. Because this is only at the developmental stage - we are doing skype (or facetime if necessary) interviews at this point. No one needs to fly to New York or anywhere else! If you are interested to hear what we are working on and talk to us about your involvement with the case - please shoot me an email with a short bio on yourself including picture and a short brief on your expertise. You can email me at TVcasting1@gmail.com

Happy to answer any questions anyone might have!

thanks!

Andrew

P.S. i'm sure some of you have noticed this post on another board or two - just want to make sure everyone sees it!

--
A bit of info on Atlas - we are NY and LA based TV production company specializing in Documentary/reality/non-fiction/and more. We currently are producing shows for History, Travel, American Heroes Channel, Investigation Discovery, HGTV, Animal Planet, E! and GSN.

Hello Andrew, thanks for stopping by and posting the news.

Dave Brown (aka Shutter)

I would like to add that this forum holds a lot of information as well experience in the case. we have several "experts" in this field. I think all of your questions about the case can be answered through this forum. I'm honored to have this much experience around me, and the ability to work as a team since the start of this forum.

RE: Shut's involvement with Atlas - of which I have lost track of between emails, PMs, posts here and elsewhere.  Whew. But I hear he is having a skype chat I believe.

Here's one pertinent message to our new "Mr. Cooper."

************************

Sounds like SHOWTIME to me!  Go Shut - Welcome to Hollywood.

You can ask them right up front what they want, but I would imagine that they will touch on two subjects - Cooper in general, and your work with the simulation, flightpath, et al. You are the founder of the Biggest DB Cooper Forum, so that gives you big cred. Plus, you have the simulation and I would think they would like to borrow a piece of it to add to their docu. It'll add greatly to the graphics.

Enjoy. Remember to shave....

...fifteen minutes will go quickly.

From this board and others...  Whether you're a seasoned expert like some of the folks we've talked to on here - or new to the case and just learning about the various DB Cooper theories and suspects - we want to talk to you! So please reach out...  email us at tvcasting1@gmail.com

And of course if there's anyone else you think we should talk to, email us about that too!

Thanks!

Have you considered the co-pilot Bill Rataczak? you can contact me for the info if needed....

Ralph Himmelsbach is another one to talk with.

And if you are interested in a rather new suspect to the case. I suggest contacting one of our members on this board by the name of NMIwrecks. this would be in connection with Dick Lespy.

Jerry Thomas is a possibility as well. all though It's my understanding he is not in good heath, but this is old information.

We haven't spoken to Himmelsbach yet - but would definitely be interested. Do you have his contact info?

We also haven't spoken to Rataczak. Not sure we want to talk to people actually involved in case, outside of investigators, quite yet. We will - just not yet.

And i've already exchanged messages with NMIwrecks. Hope we have a chance to skype with him.

I believe I can get the information you need.

Another person of interest would be EvickiW, her father went missing just prior to the hijacking. she is also a member here.
We have a Melvin Wilson (Vicki's father) thread here.

And finally, A gentleman by the name of Sailshaw. he believes a man by the name of Sheridan Peterson was DB Cooper.

If TV Guy talks to Sailshaw, he might as well try to talk to Sheridan Peterson, himself.  He's one of the few proposed suspects who is still alive.  He may not want to talk to anybody, but it's worth a try.

I'm not sure where Peterson stands at this point about him being Cooper. I think the first option would be talking with Sailshaw directly.

Mark has a point. TV Guy should send someone from the office who is a "long, tall drink of water." It worked for the feds when they wanted a swab.

The interviewers that are required for a successful filming of Petey would be the kind of women who have spent a life-time preparing, and thus are well-suited.

Bruce    I don't think Petey or Sheridan as I know him, would be willing to talk to anyone at this late a date in the DB story. He clammed up on me about 2 years ago and is not like he used to be (a good talker).

Yes, a woman might come forward claiming the bomb in the briefcase was made out of quarter rolls taped together  ;D ;D ;D
I've never seen red ones before. they are more orange. I believe they stated the color of the uniform which is not the color of
a roll of quarters.  8)

wrapping them in red tape defeats the purpose of using quarter rolls, just use wood dowels.....it doesn't make sense...

Update from Glory Road:

For those of us seeking fame and fortune in the Cooper TV World, I have some information on Skype, so that you can get yourself recorded by TV Guy at Atlas.

There is a web cam device for 30 bucks at Walmart, Target, etc. I just bought one and will be installing it shortly. Joining Skype is not too difficult - it just takes time to wander through the downloads, forms, set ups, etc.

I got the Logitech c270 at Target. Walmart was all out, but had plenty of other types at 50 bucks.

I installed it on my tablet. I had trouble with loading it on my desktop. I have some software Microsoft doesn't approve. it was less than a minute on the tablet.

As for Fame & Fortune? no thanks. I'm just trying to tell a story about an old crime......

Let me know if you want to test your camera out.....

Update from Hollywood

Ii just spent an hour Skype-ing with Mark from Atlas. Mark is part of an LA-based Atlas team that includes TV Guy, Andrew Jacobs, who waved to me from the background. Both seem to be young guys - 30 something.

Mark is super, and if you work with him I am sure you will find him to be a wonderful guide to getting your mug onto film.

Their DB Cooper project seems to be growing and taking shape. Mark told me that they are beginning to view this documentary project as a "series" rather than just a one-off. I sense that this would be in addition to the original project that DB Cooper was going to be part of an "American Heroes" series.

I'm also learning how to Skype, and I've Skyped with Nimi and Shut. It might be fun to have a group Skype sometime.

The Latest from Hollywood:

A couple things.

First, Meyer Louie called me last night to say that he has been contacted by Atlas Media and will be Skyping with Mark tomorrow morning.

Secondly, Atlas is legit. I was at a film festival over the weekend and interviewed a number of movie folks from Hollywood who knew of Atlas. It's not a fly-by-night operation.

Lastly, Mark from Atlas contacted me, asking for advice on how to connect with Brian Ingram, as Brian is not returning phone calls or emails. I told Mark that I have received the same response from Brian. Not sure why, as he is a nice guy and was very chatty and personable at the Portland conference in 2011. (Was it really 4 years ago????)

So, clearly Atlas is leaving no stone unturned.

Well, maybe they are. Maybe not, too.

I just got another email request from Mark at Atlas. Now, he's looking for the squirrel guy, and also Safecracking PLF. I asked him where the heck he is going with this project, and why he's looking for the small fry when he doesn't mention the Big Fish at the FBI.

Specifically, I asked him if he was researching Ron Nichols, Mike McPheters, Ralph Himmelsbach, Dorwin Schroeder, et al, who were involved in the money find, and now we can't find anything to confirm what they've been saying about the multiple shards at T-Bar.

Basically, his response was a big "Hunh?" and he asked me for their contact information. In reply, I said somebody at Atlas has got to read my book!  Seriously. It has tons of information on these guys. In fact, the title of the book says DB Cooper AND THE FBI.

Yeesh.

So, I wrote to Andrew Jacobs asking if they need a consultant for the project, as providing names, contact info, and data on the roles of individuals goes beyond just being a nice guy and heads directly towards the realm of compensation.

I'll keep you posted.

Mark also told me that he is working on three other projects. This doesn't sound too good, folks.

I'm guessing they always have several things going at once with hopes of one of them being picked up...there are lots of sitcoms (pilots) that we never see. a lot of work goes into them, but it doesn't pass the test audience...who knows?

TV Guy and I have emailed a few times today. Things sound okay at Atlas. They say they're contacting FBI folks.

But Atlas also wants to find out more about a guy named David Frank. Apparently, Franks is the current nom de plume for Grey Cop, aka Paul Givett, or another guy parading other people's work on Cooper. Either way it's bogus stuff.

Frank's current stuff is Grey Cop's video stroll along "Tina Bar" - NOT.

Yeesh.

David Frank made all of Paul's video's. nothing is credible with his video's. I remember the one where he tries to show it matches Kenny's handwriting from the ticket. he also keeps stating Larry Carr, and the FBI believe he has solved the case.

I just looked up his video where he tries to explain the match. here is what some of the comments say below the video.

Quote
Appreciate your hard work.  However if you are going to use particular letters as looking similar.  Your case is simply lame and of no credibility.  While you speak in the video I lool at the other letters and they are so far from similar it's embarrassing to the claim you are making.  With all due respect to your interest and passion you are so far off it's laughable and not even close to solid evidence.

Quote
I don't see the letters matching up as perfectly and how are these letters proved to be from the person who hi jacked the flight. Would you need to know who that person is for sure?

Quote
Dude they dont match at all ur nuts lol

Quote
Sorry, but the handwriting on the letter does not look anything like the handwriting from Christiansen. Also the plane ticket was not filled out by the hijacker.  Lastly, how do you know that the letters sent to the newspapers was actually sent by the hijacker?

Quote
Do you really think a guy plans and executes an extremely dangerous skyjacking so he can send easily decoded letters to a newspaper?

I'm not buying it.

Quote
iI am a handwritting print analyst for the U.S. Navy and this particular set of block print handwritting is not even close to matching. Compare the "one stroke" R to the two stroke R on the envelope and letter. Notice the "top hook" C, heavy pull, on the evelope is not consistent with the C on the letter. I could do this all day with this comparison. With a very high  degree of certainty, this is a falsified letter. Too many inconsistancies and the different personalities writting them are very clear.

Atlas asked me for contacts at the FBI, and I gave them this list. I also inlcuded the contact information for about half of these folks.

Did I miss anyone?

Mic Wright, a reporter with an online magazine called The Next Web, has contacted me. He's interested in doing a story on the impacts of the Internet in the DB Cooper investigation. Mic seems knowledgeable and the organization seems legit, so this could be an interesting expansion of our work here.

Surprisingly, he's from Dublin, and I don't know where The Next Web is based. Perhaps Ireland as well.

But it has given me the inspiration to write more about the role of the Internet and folks like us in criminal investigations.

Any thoughts?

Since nobody has bothered to answer your dream-state speculation, I will.

Yes. You dont have the information base to even begin to attempt a cogent article on that subject! You don't know the difference between relationships you dream up and overlay on people in the world vs. actual relationships working in the real world! There is a significant difference. (to put it mildly).

Role of the Internet and folks like us? You dont even know who "folks like us" are. You presume to know who and what we are and include yourself in that?

Good luck with that!

  :)

Other than giving exposure to my dream states, what would you say the impact of the Internet has been in the Norjak investigation?

The Cooper forum here, the DZ, Ckret, the many emails between researchers, the role of Snowmman, etc.

Friends,

We've just returned from an inspection onboard the S.S. True, and many have asked when to reserve spaces for True's upcoming shipwreck fishing party. Tickets go on sale to the public early this week, and we're offering friends, family and True members early spaces (along with a $40 per mate discount)  so best to reserve tonight or tomorrow. Transportation to the boat will be available. Details are below.

He's very knowledgeable. Knows of Jon Ronson and the "Men Who Stare at Goats," remote viewing, etc.

Hi y'all:

Been busy trying to make a living and finding a new job lately, but I did manage to work in a Skype interview with Atlas on May 20th last.  They will show you how to set up Skype and get it working if you are a total novice with Skype, like me.  I have it now, would love to chat with many of you.  I don't quite know how to get that going, but I will research it and maybe I can talk with you, Bruce and Shutter, for starters.  I agree with Bruce, I think Atlas is trying to do a good thing for the DBC case -- getting exposure to a brand new audience.  I am still muddling through on how to post to this site, so if I mess up, be patient.  I may contact a couple of you to get some pointers.  Meyer :)

...but there are so many buttons....

I feel Meyer's pain. I spoke with Mic Wright on Skype a couple of days ago and it took HEROIC efforts on his part to walk me through a volume glitch.  Skype even has a "page share" function so he could see my page and try to figure out what BUTTONS I had to hit here. But after 30 minutes he could finally hear me.

Of course, I had a lot to say!

We have a help section, but sometimes makes things worse. seems like I need to make a short video on the basic functions of this site.

Mr TV Guy
I am possibly the last of the people in the forum that has known DB Cooper/Sheridan Peterson who lived at my home in Seattle for a month and about 10 years before Norjak (FBI name for the DB Cooper skyjacking case).  Feel free to email me at my address below for some real info about DB Cooper and why Sheridan is the most qualified suspect. Also, I know how to quickly solve the case using DNA the FBI already have but have not looked at under the stamps and envelope flaps of the four letters sent to the newspapers just following Norjak. By comparing DNA from the letters to what they have of Sheridan they would find a match which would prove Sheridan was not in Nepal per his phony alibi but was in Portland, the scene of the crime. His lie to the FBI (a Federal crime) and jail time could be traded for the rest of the story from Sheridan.

I'm sure they will contact you if the show gets picked up. I don't think they come onto the forum anymore at this time.

A Fun Show on DB Cooper

Instead of trying to figure out who DB Cooper is/was, why not just do a docu on what he did? Here are some ideas - consider it a freebee to Hollywood!

1. PDX - show where the skyjacking began. Cooper entered the plane via the aft stairs! And left the same way!!!
2. SEA-TAC, where the money-passenger swap took place. Were there snipers, what could they see in the rain and dark? What was it like with the fuel truck gaffs - Rataczak "laying down the law"?
3. Get someone to jump over Ariel in the rain at night. Have a team of photogs with night vision gear follow him down - could be quite a show.
4. A re-enactment of getting down from a tree snag by using ropes/spare parachute brought along for the possibility.
5. What does LZ-A look like at night, in the rain. Where was it snowing?
6. Where could have road blocks and check point have been established? How easily could they be avoided?
7. What can actually be seen by fixed wing and helos in the rain? Exactly how visible is a parachute stuck in a forest?
8. Where would an extraction team wait for DB Cooper? How long would it have taken to rendezvous?
9. How fast could Richard McCoy have returned to McCarran airport in Las Vegas, if he was in fact part of Cooper's extraction team?
10. Where could DB Cooper have laundered 10,000 twenties? Las Vegas, with McCoy? Hong Kong? The casinos of Macau? Lots of Glitz!
