This seems like a key Tektronix patent from 1960
I believe a lot of their stuff was based on this bistable design, for a long time.

some compounds are mentioned in the patent

Bistable storage tube having storage dielectric of phosphor particles coated with secondary emissive material
Abstract
The present invention relates generally to charge image storage tubes having a direct viewing storage target including a storage dielectric of phosphor material capable of bistable storage of a charge image and which emits a light image corresponding to such charge image, and in particular to an improved storage dielectric of phosphor particles coated with smaller particles of a high secondary electron emissive material bonded to such phosphor particles and to a method of manufacture thereof. A small amount of secondary emissive material is employed efficiently to increase the writing speed and useful lifetime of the storage dielectric without greatly decreasing the brightness of the light image emitted by the phosphor. In one embodiment using 3.5 per cent of magnesium oxide secondary emissive material with 96.5 per cent of manganese activated zinc orthosilicate phosphor material, a writing speed of 400,000 centimeters per second and a light image brightness of 3.5 foot-lamberts was obtained. The method of manufacture of the improved storage dielectric includes coating the phosphor particles with a secondary emissive forming substance, and then heating the coated phosphor particles to produce the secondary emissive material and to simultaneously bond such secondary emissive material to the phosphor particles.

Another thing the FBI could have done, but apparently didn't, was go around to all the thrift stores in Portland and see if anyone bought tie, suit, briefcase recently, that they remember.

I'm wondering if this phosphor particle stuff, if true, makes it more likely the tie was a thrift store purchase in Portland, rather than pointing to a Tektronix Portland/Beavorton engineer/manager/manufacturing line person.

One thing that could be interpreted as the tie having two owners.

The tie was used with a tie tack for a while. See Tom Kaye's upclose photos of the tie and his report. (showing the hole in the tie)

Then it was found with the tie bar, from Cooper.

Maybe the tie tack is from the original owner, not Cooper.

Could be as simple as having multiple tie clips/bars/tacks etc.

I wonder how common mixed use is.

So, the theory is that Cooper used the tie with both a tie tack and a tie bar?

Why is that a better theory than 2 owners of the tie, each with different preferences for tie bar/tie tack?

There was also multiple dna donors on the tie.

It seems odd that people think the evidence suggests single owner.

It appears a lot of things they have as evidence gets thrown away once the lab has finished...at least back in the 70's...

Tom Colbert sent an email I forgot about ..

12/3
"all the above enclosures may be destroyed at the bureau upon completion of examination."

Not a theory. it's a possibility. could of lost the bar, no longer like the bar and seen the clip etc.
It's possible it's not Cooper's tie.
It's possible he bought the tie at a thrift store.
It's possible someone sneezed in front of him lol.

I think he left it behind so it didn't get in the way while jumping. the question would be why he didn't throw it out the back. was it a gift to the FBI because it wasn't his?

why not stick it in your pocket?

Sure, they came as a cheap kit... most likely a single owner.

If it wasn't Cooper's tie, he might be less concerned about taking it with him.

Tektronix is one logical possibility but is there are others...

and Tektronix equipment was widely used and maintained by Electrical Engineers so exposure could be down the product chain...

The lack of steel suggests Dentistry, IMO. But, there are also other electronics environments that have those particles. Ceramic coatings for radomes and missile/radar systems.

Hahneman was wearing a dark suit, white shirt, narrow black tie, brown shoes, sunglasses and left behind a topcoat and a case with:

2x ties
2x boxer shorts
1x undershirt
1x short sleeved white dress shirt

labels removed.
