Yup. Smile.

That was a good day, and a good shoot.

At the beginning Geoff Gray bore down hard suggesting - we have the whole Cooper description/profile wrong! He cited Gregory's description(s). That set the stage for the whole program. The same issue rings loud and clear to this day!

I agree. He seemed to take Robert Gregory's description as gospel while dismissing the rest, at one point referring to Cooper as "Leisure Suit Larry."

agree - the disheveled Cooper, borrowed cloths?, quickly dressed? ............. clothes that didnt match ?  Maybe the whole uniform was picked up at Goodwill two days before as a front for the hijacking?

Tom seems to be betting that wasnt the case?

CooperCon 2019

There is a groundswell building for a really big CooperCon this November, which I think is great. Eric seems to be reaching out to a number of new Cooper enthusiasts in the Portland/Vancouver area, and is playing around with lots of new - and fun - ideas. Ironically, one dynamic in this tidal wave of enthusiasm is what to do with RMB, and by extension the Decoded folks, since they have a substantive DB Cooper docu out there in TV Land.

I am developing a memorandum of understanding of what I will need from RMB in order to participate in any kind of fashion if he is involved. Also, I am developing questions for the Decoded people that might get involved, since I feel they need to take responsibility for the falsehoods that they put out into the firmament, such as Kenny C. buying his house in Bonney Lake for cash. The Decoded show did not seem to vette the material on Kenny they gathered from RMB, and indirectly from Geoffrey Gray and Skipp Porteous. I find that egregious, and I seriously question what they would bring to a Cooper conference that is worth listening to. Sure, it would be fun to get the inside Hollywood Story on all of it, but I'm hungry for a bit more meaningful substance. I want the succulent, slow-cooked pork ribs and not just the smoky BBQ sauce.

I've begun to discuss these issues with the principals involved in CooperCon 2019, and we'll see where we go from here.

Whatever (all of this means)!

Does this mean RMB is now in charge of all Cooper conferences in North American and in Singapore?

I mean if he's making demands and calling the shots which everyone must accommodate - then hes in charge?

I think it is important to address a few things here with respect to the 2019 CooperCon.

In fact, I have discussed hosting the 2019 CooperCon at the popular facilities owned and operated by Jim Brunberg in Portland. Moreover, Jim has made me an offer that would be foolish to pass up--although, nothing has been finalized.

Jim and I have discussed the angst that exists between certain parties in the Cooper Vortex. Neither one of us has any patience for it or has any interest in dealing with it. It's really as simple as that.

Jim and I agree that the paramount objective must be to organize a DB Cooper event that is worthy of the legend. This means crafting a 2019 CooperCon that is at once educational and entertaining. Furthermore, that CooperCon is an event that is worthy of the city of Portland and the city of Vancouver.

To that end, as the founder and organizer of CooperCon, I am committed to creating a spectacular 2019 CooperCon. My hope and expectation is to have an event this year that brings in north of 500 people. In order to successfully accomplish this task I am going to use my better judgement and the sage guidance of a few others to build CooperCon from the ground up utilizing my experience from last November as a firm foundation.

I welcome all constructive input. To that end, I may be contacted via email at eric (at) thecoopercase (dot) com.

Cheers!

Here is a bit more detail on the DBC conference "groundswell."

RMB has been pestering me over the past month with endless emails and posts on the MN to bury the hatchet and join with him in a joint Cooper Conference for this November. He would like me to join forces with him in a conference project that he says he has been crafting with a Portland-based impresario named Jim Brunberg. I told RMB, "No way, Jose."

Apparently, RMB has been reaching out to others in Cooper World to build an assembly of speakers and has had difficulty developing a full and respectable roster. To date, I know of no one who is teaming with RMB, although RMB says that Darren Schaeffer and Bradley Collins have accepted a presentation slot.

At first, RMB envisioned his conference with Brunberg as a kind of alternative to EU's scheduled CooperCon on November 30, 2019. Then, RMB considered making it a kind of competitive or supplemental entertainment show for the same date. Every day RMB sent me variations on those themes.

Jim Brunberg called me a few days ago to introduce himself to me. I was surprised to learn a few things. First, he told me that he has never met RMB. Secondly, he knows very little about DB Cooper, but is ironically good friends with one of the Decoded principals, and through that contact knows of RMB and Kenny Christiansen. In the course of a lengthy and healthy discussion over a range of Cooper-related topics, I informed Jim of my many run-ins with RMB over the past decade, and my current inability to participate in any conference in which RMB participates.

The groundswell has given rise to what I perceive as an effort to build a One Big Happy Family in Cooperville, and that just can't happen in my view - for me, certainly. RMB is just too dangerous and too toxic for me to share any professional dealings with him. Frankly, I have very real concerns for my personal safety - let alone my professional reputation - and am taking steps to protect myself.

At the very least, today I blocked RMB from sending me emails. I have communications out to WordPress to see how I can best block RMB from posting at the Mountain News. Two days ago, RMB posted ten unwanted commentaries at the MN, and I had to scrub them all. I am done with that kind of nonsense. I have sought legal counsel on how to respond to RMB's intrusions and harassments, and will be exploring the recent changes to Washington State law that increase the protection of folks from unwanted cyber bullying, threats, and attacks.

As I have stated in an earlier post, I have developed a memorandum of understanding for the kinds of apologies and acknowledgements that I need from RMB that would give me the degree of security that would allow myself to participate with him in a professional conference on NORJAK. I have sent that MOU to several of the principals of Cooper World who are seeking to develop the Conference in November 2019, including EU and Jim Brunberg. I thought it would be important for them to know the details on the conflict between RMB and I, and what I think it will take to fix it.

That said, I do recognize that CooperCon 2019 is EU's baby - it's his show, and he is seeking to build a partnership with Brunberg to offer a real whiz-bango weekend, which I think is great. I support that fully. I also realize that my role in this all is as a vendor of information. I know what I know and can deliver it in a mostly appealing manner. I would be honored to do that, if invited.

Can RMB and I share a stage together? Or even be under the same roof? No. Not until a change is made in our relationship. I need the past transgressions resolved. Further, I do not seek the assistance of anyone in addressing my issues with RMB. If RMB wants to right our relationship, he must take action to do so. However, it must be through a third-party at this point, as I refuse to have any direct dealings with him.

Regardless, I will be happy to assist EU and Jim Brunberg is any way I can in building a fantastic CooperCon 2019, and beyond.

Robert has done a lot of damage over the years. he really went overboard with the begging this time. perhaps he wanted to look good with the Decoded crew. regardless, he's only looking out for himself. he doesn't care about anyone except one Robert M Blevins.

I don't think I have ever spoken bad about Robert to anyone in the media or new people before but felt compelled this time to speak my mind in a email to Jim. as Bruce mentioned Jim appears to be on a mission to connect us all with RMB. I had to strongly disagree and explained my reasons in great detail. I do not want to be associated with him in any way what so ever, period! it still irritates me that he has went as far as to threaten Bruce with violence. there is no room for this type of behavior in the Cooper world. I take strong offense to this. he's extremely lucky I live on the other side of the country. a very bad side of me comes out and it's not good when I hear things like this. I just don't see working with Robert in any capacity in the DB Cooper case. his track record alone is proof enough.

I had an epiphany about RMB last night. I am not going to allow him or his presence to determine where I go or what I do. Hence, I will be at CooperCon 2019 if invited regardless of who else might be there.

One of Roberts bad habits is speaking for others. along with name dropping when he really doesn't know the person. he will just say what he thinks you would say..that's why I have no trust in his witnesses. he speaks for them all...

Got a question for you changing the topic!

Is there anything in Tosaw's book about his brother Mike Tosaw playing football with one Nile Kinnick - where? if it happened at all? Any mention in Tosaw's book of he or his brother Mike playing football?
